I have to agree. Goughie was never going to be the best dancer SCD has ever seen, but he produced some very good ballroom and some passable and entertaining Latin. I watched back some of my old tapes recently, and I was honestly surprised at how good some of his routines were.

This year is the only time I have actually watched routines from Camilla that seemed to focus on her celeb more than her. Granted, it's a nice and very welcome change, but (although I think we'll have to agree to disagree, which is fair enough

) I do not agree that she did a particularly good job of showcasing Gethin, or indeed any other of her celebs prior to Tom. Lilia IMO did a better job of showcasing the limited talents of Dom, and Erin the limited talents of Julian and Peter, despite those celebs' obvious limitations. And to be honest, I never really "got" Gethin's "miraculous change" - I much preferred some of his earlier routines, his VW for me was my favourite of his dances, I thought it was gorgeous, and said at the time that it should have been first, not joint first, that evening.
My abiding image of their slow waltz that got such rave reviews for instance is of Gethin rubbing his nose over Camilla's face; I didn't find it emotional or romantic, I found it cringy, and I didn't especially like the choreo or the ending to that dance - neither did my mum who I watched it with. Guess it goes to show it takes all sorts - SCD would be extremely dull if we all agreed! I know people who adored that dance (and similarly MattDA's waltz which also left me cold), so who's to say who's right? But it wasn't to my taste at all, and I much preferred some of his other offerings.
It has been a refreshing change to see some routines that seem genuinely focused on her celeb's strengths, though why she put so many pivots in one routine and so many shimmies in the other on Sat when it was clear Tom had trouble with both moves beats me. I don't think she did him any favours there, which is a shame as I think he's obviously talented. If she can choreo to his strengths I can see him winning, but not by doing that to him. That said, coming back from a bad week may cement his support, so who knows.
