I'm planning on getting a Blackberry Bold, probably on T-Mobile as I'm currently with them so hope I can talk them into giving me a better deal when my contract expires. I have 2 questions...

1) Do I need to get unlimited Web+Walk in order to use Blackberry's email service when I'm not at home using wifi? I don't want any extra costs and the only thing I'll want to use the Internet for when away from my wifi at home is email. So although I obviously have to go through the Internet to access Blackberry's servers, will the Blackberry monthly charge cover me for that without needing Web+Walk or paying Internet charges?

2) One problem with T-Mobile is that the signal is poor when I'm indoors at home. I've been reading up on UMA but some things aren't clear. Will UMA work for me on T-Mobile in the UK and do both texts and calls automatically come thru UMA if I lose the mobile signal?

Thanks!
Geoff.

To use email you will have to subscribe to a Blackberry data tariff on top of your voice tariff.

This is because the email/browser won't appear until you are sent the service books when your account is provisioned.

Hi prking, thanks for writing. I do understand that part, but what I'm asking is about the network provider's Internet tariff, not their standard voice tariff. Like with T-Mobile it's Web'n'Walk which gives you unlimited Internet, but do I need that as well as Blackberry's data tariff, which is a different thing?

For Blackberry email you need a Blackberry data tariff plus a T_Mobile voice tariff. If you want to use some (non-Blackberry) internet applications, then you will need to add a T-Mobile data plan as well (or use web'n'walk daily). Note that some apps can use your BlackBerry data.

Ok thanks. So I shouldn't have to get W'n'W too, although most packages I've looked at today offer them both as one package.

If you go for the combi offer you don't need to get the web and walk

Yeah I know, that's why I asked the question.
It's the only place I've seen it without having to get both though, and I really want to get away from T-Mobile if I can because of the low signal where I live.
