Rubbish - jammers was stating as fact that one is better than the other. in the same way that i might state my N95-2 is better than my old 3310. as if it were an accepted fact.

It's not, it's the subject of debate. clarifying that something is your opinion, and not accepted fact, is only polite when not everyone on the board may be aware of the subtlety of the distinction.

Yes but it's stated as if it were fact.

it's not just that it can be misread it's also that it's arrogant, abrasive and annoying. spitting it out as if your point was made without backing it up. it's like going into an intelligent debate in a football forum and saying.

ManU Chelsea no contest.
or any of the other forums
Islam or Christianity - no brainer
Kirk or Picard - Duhhh

it's crass

I'm not sure that this is particularly relevant to thread. or why you'd chose to bring it up TBH

Totally disagree with you

Man U Chelsea no contest is an OPINION how can you even state fact on that?

Any time you say something sucks around someone who disagrees, they try to validate their taste in shitty music/movies/clothing by reminding you that you still only speak for yourself, as if their opinions are in jeopardy of being monopolized by your own. Everyone already knows it's my opinion by virtue of the fact that I said it, no need to restate the obvious.

"TBH" why reply if its not relevent. TBH another thing that drives me mad, were you not being honest before?

here is something stated as if it were a fact:
ManU are better than Chelsea

Here is something stated as an opinion
I think ManU are better than Chelsea.

One is correct the other isn't. You can see the difference???

whatever, i think you're pretending to be more stupid than you are.

I don't understand why you've come into this thread with no intention of contributing to the discussion just arguing over semantics. It's very strange.

You dont need to add "I think" to the start of that to make it your opinion, both say its your opinion you cant state something like that as fact

Youre winding me up I know now Strange you keep on though

Shortly after the final word on the ZX Spectrum Vs BBC Micro/Atari ST Vs Commodore Amiga/PC Vs Apple Mac is delivered I don't doubt

I played with the iPhone - I hated it - I played with the HTC Touch HD - I loved it - I paid my money - I made my choice.

*note - for the record - BBC Micro - Commodore Amiga - jury still out on the last one *

I like the look of the I-phone, but refuse to buy anything produced by Apple.
Had many HTC's , ok, but sluggish sometimes, same as S60, which I currently use.
Still waiting for the ultimate phone..just hope its not produced by Apple

I think that phone looks like it was designed 10 years ago, flimsy crap with cheap plastic.

The iPhone killer wont be a Nokia.

iPhone killer? How many times have we heard that?

Just because it has a touch screen keyboard or/and a QWERTY keyboard doesn't mean it is a Blackberry or iPhone killer. These phones work mainly because of the services behind them and the software. This is exactly how Apple came to completely dominate the portable music market. Other players had more features, or tried to copy the iPod, but it is the firmware and iTunes that has kept iPod in front. The hardware on the iPhone is without a doubt great. The touchscreen is one of the best I have used, but the thing that really makes it stand out is the software.

Because it's Apple, people think it's cool to go "against" the crowd.

Only just came back into this thread. Glad to see Flagpole is continuing with a pointless argument.

As it happens of course it is an opinion, everything is an opinion isn't it?

However, OS X is generally acknowledge as being the world's most advanced OS and when compared to something running on Symbian just blows it away. Power management for example on the iPhone is based on years and years of research and laptop sales. As mobile phones become less phone and more computer a computer company like Apple is always going to win (In my opinion, just in case ;-p)

Windows Mobile 7 will probably be ok if they ever ship it but 6 is dreadful and is why the iPhone is outselling every other Windows Mobile software phone combined. However, the pay for licensing model is dead with the arrival of Android and the move towards open source by Symbian. Why pay for a Windows Mobile license when you can get one for free from somewhere else?

True, but companies and consumers still pay extra to have Windows over Linux. Symbian is Linux and this has been done before, so what makes Google different? The Google reality distortion field? I admit the same could be said about Apple. If Microsoft did a good job with Windows Mobile then they could make a big impact. It was just another market they went into and didn't have to make it that good because no one else in the market didn't understand software. Now Apple has jumped on the bandwagon, who do understand software then Microsoft really has to step up its game. It has the talent, experience and resources. Google has little experience of software. The only thing they make money on at the moment is search and AdSense. They have yet to prove they are good at software. They have the money and a lot of talented people working at Google, but we are already seeing Google's share price plummet, advertising revenue is drying up (this will effect Google in the long-term) and they are laying off a lot of people, plus they have a lot of other (some pointless) projects and labs and everything else in beta status. You have to ask how well they can contribute to the mobile phone. Plus free comes at a price. Google isn't giving it away for free because they are nice, they are giving it away so they can get even more information about you and sell ads to you etc. Although, because everyone things Google isn't evil and is all friendly people are happy just to give their info to Google no questions asked.

What an astonishing statement. Apart from the obvious high profile apps of Google, Google Earth etc. have you ever looked at a full list of software that Google has produced.

I am aware of those apps, but just because they can do some small gimmicky desktop apps does not equate to being able to put together a whole OS for a phone. Most are just apps knocked together by some guys at Google with some of their free time they get, few actually come to fruition, not all integrate with existing Google services and with the credit crisis Google will be looking to cut costs. Also, let's be honest, a lot of the software Google churns out is not that great, especially Google toolbar. I am very strongly against toolbars...and what exactly is the point in them? All browsers now have search built in at the top and all come with pop-up blockers. Companies like AOL and Yahoo have also released software, but it is the worst most bloated software you could possibly use. I admit that Google software is generally better, but on par with Apple and Microsoft? They have a long way to go. Apple and Microsoft have been designing software and UI for decades, Google just started a few years ago.
