Hi everyone not sure if this is normal or not but the fan on my THOMSON DTI-6300 is always running even in standby.... I put a 500GB HDD in last week and moved the box upstairs from downstairs but not sure if it used to do this before as it was in a cabinet, even after removing the chassis from it's case the fan always runs, so can anyone tell me is it normal, its not noisy or anything, just wondering that if it always runs 24 hours a day what sort of lifespan will the fan have, thanks BARRY.

It is normal....the speed does vary though according to temperature...this can be seen in the Engineer menu with the varying RPM and temperature fluctuations

Just wondered if anyone would find this useful, when the 32O GB HDD broke i checked on seagate manufacurers warranty site and it was in warranty till 20011, so posted it off to them last tuesday first class £2-60p and got a hopefully (FREE) replacement yesterday, probably refurbished but its a handy spare to have, was'nt sure were on the boards to post this last comment, hope some will find it useful advice.
