Nokia Mediamaster 9500s...Help!
Hi all,
I recently found a Nokia Mediamaster 9500s on a local car boot. It seems to work ok, but I don't have a manual or remote control for it. Does anyone know where I can download a manual for this or find a remote. Any other general info about the receiver would be grateful. Cheers Morgan |

Re: Nokia Mediamaster 9500s...Help!
The Nokia 9500 is mainly used in Germany, as it is one of the receivers supplied by the pay-tv broadcaster 'Premiere'. It is better known by the name 'd-box'. I haven't seen a manual in English, but you'll find it in German Language on the Nokia Homepage: http://www.nokia.de/de/72/39866/noki...leitung_de.pdf
The Nokia 9500 can be upgraded with a software called DVB2000. With this software, the Nokia 9500 is the best receiver on planet earth! It will enable auto symbol rate scan, MPEG 4:2:2, recording films digitally on a PC and some other very interesting features. Hi
I managed to get a universal remote control that works with the receiver. My next step is how do I add channels to the receiver. I have a dish pointed at 13E (hotbirds) and would like to watch some channels from it. The receiver looks like it has the original nokia sofware, but that is only a guess as I'm new to this sort of thing. If its any help when the receiver is switched on the LED displays the numbers '23060009' for a few seconds and then 'No2.234' and then goes to the channel. At the moment most of the channels that are stored in it come up with the message 'no signal/bad signal' but some other European channels do work ok, so I guess these channels must be on hotbirds. Basically how do I add more channels from hotbirds? Sorry for rabbitting on!! Morgan |

How to add channels:
- Press the blue button - Select SETTINGS and press OK - Now you will be asked to enter a 4-digit password. The default password is 0000. - Select AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SEARCH and press OK - Select START and press OK. That’s it. |

Sorry for the late reply.
Ok i've worked my way around the receiver but a few things seem a bit odd. I can add channels to the receiver ok, but on some channels the message NO TS appears on the receiver display. These are FTA channels that my sky digiboc picks up fine but the nokia receiver finds them, puts them in the TV list but when trying to view I get the no ts message. The other thing that is annoying is that I can't seem to add just a few channels of a particular transponder. When I add the details it adds all the channels to the tv list. It also takes ages to delete all the channels 1 by 1. This receiver has the original nokia software on it and I suspect it requires an update. Is this an easy thing to do for a novice lile myself? Thanks for any help. Cheers Morgan |

Updates are done automatically via satellite ASTRA 1 (19.2E). When you perform an AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SEARCH the box will check if a more recent software version is available (you’ll see the message “DL check” on the display). If such a software version is found, your box will be updated automatically (you’ll see the message “SAT tuned” on the display).
The original Nokia software isn’t very exciting. Perhaps you should consider using the DVB2000 software. You can download the DVB2000 manual (which includes an installation chapter) from this website: http://www.dxandy.de/digital.htm |

Thanks I think I'll try the update via 19.2E. Is that the old sky analogue satellite?

I think the Nokia receivers can be upgrated by tunning to the German Channel ntv, that is on Astra 1, 19,2º East. ( 12699 V, 22000, 5/6).
Also, on Hot Bird, the upgrade facility is on Liberty.com TV, on 12476 H, 27500, 3/4. Good luck. |
