Ending O2 contract. HELP!

I am really fed up of O2's internet on my iphone.

I am constantly losing the connection, and I am not prepared to pay £45 a month for rubbish.

I had the same problem with N95 but thought it would be better with the iphone.

I called O2 and they say I have to pay £495 to come out of my contract which ends in NOV09.

I have heard that they have capped their early disconnection fee to £50.

Who is right? And can I come out due to poor service. It is nothing like what hey advertised.

Thanks.

Surely there must be something I can do.

The main feature of the iphone is supposed to be fast internet and email. I am not getting this, so surely I have a right to cancel without any penalty.

I am awaiting a callback from a manager.

The worst part is when I called to ask about cancelling, she just said you are in contract and will have to pay £495.

Not once did she ask me why.

Hi,
You will be liable to pay your term fee as you agreed to sign a 18 month contract, and they will say you had 14 days to return if you are not happy with signal/service etc.
sorry

It is your responsibility to check you have good coverage before you start the contract so cancelling early as you can't browse the net I doubt will work with them.

For me personally, my connection seem perfectly fine with Iphone O2. I think demand may not make the network as fast as advertised but for me it's the first time I got net on the phone it rocks. Try the facebook app it's very responsive. You might just want to switch to O2 'pay and go.' They are probably likely to improve the service with time but I think it works very smoothly where I am. Could be down to your location if you are in a hilly area. I find it as fast as I would expect to be on a phone a very fast on facebook app. That let's you upload photos straight after you take them to your FP page. The maps seems to move very slow but I don't really use that app anyways. Apparently there is a map program you can down load to your phone that you plot first then copy to the phone. But it's fantastic that if I ever got lost I could genrally locate where I am. The pay and go phone comes with 12 months free internet so I am glad I held out till pay and go came along.

But if it goes the wrong way you end up on the black list and won't get any credit from anywhere for a long time. Not a good idea.
