I see Aria are showing the DTR80 as part of their superspecial at £40.19 inc VAT.

I'm not sure its a super-special price but I thought I would share it with you.

Bill

It says it's out of stock as "super special" but still available @ £46 - but their shipping is 7 quid

I bought the 160 gig version for 65 quid.
You have to search for it for some reason as its not in the menu.

Shoulda said the 65 quid is including the delivery.
Argos is 80 not including delivery and its not in stock
Thanks for the heads up.

That may be the PVR160, the first in the series of Vestels - does it have T810 somewhere on the box, otherwise T8** ?

If it is the PVR160 it's not twin-record (only watch one, record another) but can be upgraded (at a cost to performance) to twin-record but not to include Series Link.

Just worth noting that the T810 Twin Record software cannot tune into any MUX broadcasting the new 8K signal format, which is to be rolled out UK-wide at switchover of each region. Make sure you hava a vopy of the v5.7 BIN file for the PVR so that you can change back when the 8K signal comes to your region. (copy available on Futaura's website)

If I read Partentha's comments correctly, he said it MAY be a PVR (T810). I would be surprised if any stock was still available as it was discontinued, and it's probably a DTR (T825). Why not email their Customer Services team and ask?

In any event, UK distance selling regulations entitle you to return (unused) any internet purchase, within 7 days for a full refund.

You need 9-pin male-female serial cable (straight thru pins) and a program like Hyperterminal (HT is built in to Windows XP) to perform a software change via the DTR/PVR serial port.

(1) I'm a lady, so what do I know? I said "may" just to allow for the uncertainties of life and supplier misinformation.

(2) Aria refer to manufacturer's code PVR160

(3) A clue was that the price is the same as the DTR80.

(4) Refurbed PVR160/80s are still being sold, just like the old Digifusions. I think that Argos must still be auctioning off pallets of returns.

Gooey, this is the thread that covers the upgrade, and within it you'll find links to useful sites. It is quite simple provided the instructions are followed to the letter, step by step.

Before you start reading that daunting thread:

Because the T810 only has 32mb RAM, it finds it hard to cope with the extra work, therefore the EPG will be slow to load, you'll get more stuttering, the red button function is slow (more noticeable on QVC than BBC, where you can choose the extra channels by number 302 etc anyway)...

On my twin-record PVR160 I have deleted all the radio channels plus all those TV channels which I can live without, and it performs well enough - but I do have other PVRs because I record a helluva lot, and my T816 covers interactive for me, then I've got a Tiscali+ box

You may think it's worth keeping as a Record1/Watch1, it's quite a decent performer with a wonderfully user-friendly interface.

Have a think, and don't hesitate to ask further Qs.

Apologies for my incorrect assumption - and NO, you are actually one of the most experienced owners in this (Digihome) forum.

Flatterer .

I emailed Aria a few days ago and they replied that the PVR on the link in Post #1 does not have Series Record so it is clearly not a T825. It could be a T816 and the phrase (though not totally clear) in the description "so you have the ability to watch and or watch/record 2 channels at the same time" does imply dual record capability which would make it a T816 (unless they had installed the un-official software).

Unfortunately Digihome are not helpful with their model numbers as they use the title Digihome DTR80 or DTR160 for both their T816 and T825 model numbers.

If it is a T810 then the model number Digihome DTR80 is wrong as the T810 would be a Digihome PVR80 as you know. This would be grounds for returning it.

Edit:- Oooops. I just realised we discussed this in the thread here yesterday

Hmm I`ve decided to keep it.
It`s a christmas present for my mum.She only seems to watch BBC1 and ITV so dual record would probably not bother her.
I have an old 56k modem that has a RS232 cable I think.

Your mum will be missing out on Accurate Recording which was first introduced on the T816 Digihome DTR models. This normally prevents the loss of the start and end of recorded programmes due to early and late starting relative to scheduled times. She could use padding but that is inconvenient IMO, having to scroll through padding to get to the real programme start. AR works well on BBC programmes but ITV have sabotaged Accurate Recording to a large extent by adding the adverts which are really part of the previous programme to the start of recordings.
