Hi
I hope someone can give me some tips
I recently got my new tv panasonic 58pz800 and am quite disapointed with the picture quality. We watch all our programmes through our sky+ box and the picture is not very sharp, colours are great but the picture looks a bit pixeled to me
I have turned on pnr and viewing mode to eco a slight improvement but is there anything else I can do

Any suggestions much appreciated

I have this set, but much smaller (42"). I have had no problems with it. From memory, I have it in cinema mode, and IFC turned off. IFC will make a big difference make sure its turned off.

Another thing to take into consideration, is your viewing distance...how far are you sitting from the screen? This site suggests optimal distances. This may not help much though.

As Amjid wrote the TV is probably too large for your viewing distance for SD, what is your viewing distance? You are seeing the pixellation from low bitrate channels that can be hidden on a smaller TV. Probably HD would look good so Sky+HD or BluRay would show the TV to it's advantage.

One thing with the Pannies is to not use the "dynamic" picture mode (which is horrible) but to use "cinema" instead though that won't help with the pixellation too much.

Sit further away or get a smaller TV would be the best advice though neither may be possible.

as mentioned, on a TV that size, SD programmes are going to look rubbish unless you sit a very good distance away. The only answer is to try and take it back and swap for a much smaller set, or get HD.
