I bought a jar on impulse yesterday, 'Country French', 'coz it was on offer. Never tried it before.

Is it worth risking a few quids worth of chicken to test it or should I put it in the bin?

If it is okayish, just how garlicky does it taste?

Well you've spent the money buying it so it's silly to throw it away. At the very least give it someone else.

But actually it's fine. It's easy and relatively tasty. Sure Ramsay wouldn't appreciate seeing one in his kitchen but, yeah buy a bit of chicken and cook some rice up and you've got a meal.
As for how garlicky - well that's just subjective. You'll have to try it out.

Give it a go, not all jars are crap, although food snobs may say different! I've tried the Spanish Chicken Tonight and if you're short of time or just can't be arsed it's not at all bad!

The Spanish chicken one is pretty good in an emergency.

Some of them are OK (is it them that do the "sizzle and stir" ones as well? Seem to remember they were pretty decent for stuff in a jar ...) if you want something quick and easy. Don't think I've ever tried the Country French one ....

They aren't bad for jars, obviously they are never going to be as nice as home made sauces. I quite like the honey mustard one. I am sure I have had the country French one in the past and must have liked it, as I am more inclined to remember something if I don't like it.

I found them as salty as hell. Tried a couple of them (BOGOF) and never bought again.

For some reason the shake n' vac tune sprang to mind when I read the thread title, the image of a woman throwing chicken casserole on her carpet amused me for a moment.

I think I'll use it with a cheapo turkey leg I got today and see how it turns out. :

I got some chicken as well but I'll do that like I usually do.

Curry is lovely, especially for someone who isn't that fond of some of the overly spiced Indian food, I do find myself adding some chilli powder and salt to it though.
I used to love the barbecue stuff but now I find it too sickly sweet now.

Just try it, make your own mind up and ignore the food snobs.

I did it in the slow cooker with turkey leg, with onion and carrots thrown in.

It's actually quite good. I've had much worse in restaurants. Took some round for my aged mum, who will say if she doesn't like something - and she ate it all up.
