Have I got a faulty i-pod shuffle?

Just had an i-pod shuffle and I've plugged it in to the USB bit on the computer as it said. It then said on screen that I need to restart my computer to go ahead which I did. But the computer got stuck on the first load-up screen so I switched off and disconnected the i-pod. I switched my PC on again with no i-pod connected and it loaded. Then I put the USB lead in again but it's just bringing up the E:drive screen and nothing else and the i-pod's orange light is flashing which according to the booklet means it's ready to use! Only just plugged it in. Is it faulty do you reckon? Thanks.

Yeah sorry. Thought you downloaded i-tunes after powering the pod up. All ok now!
