Diana - what happened?
I just YT'ed some of Diana's old performances.
I find them sad Her audition and bootcamp were so much better than what she has become (IMO) especially since her illness. Her voice is still unusual, but the vocal quirks aren't turned up to 11, she sings in tune (or so it sounds to my ears) and can hit notes, her diction isnt nearly as bad. It's much less contrived overall and she doesnt slur her words as much.I like Hallelujah - nice and simple. She has a touch of Winehouse:http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5GC2jF...eature=related Nothing Compares 2 U is good, and well done too. Ironically, her voice is very good, for this classic Sinead O Connor version. I'm wondering why she has changed so much since then. |

I dunno tbh
. I loved her in bootcamp, still do now but she's not as... I dunno... just not the same. I really loved her then. I think the XFactor just kills talent. Look at Laura, she was unbeliveable in bootcamp- then they messed around with her in the live shows too.

She has gone down the pan since Man In The Mirror. I've never known any contestant to actually deteriorate quite so markedly.

IMO, the producers knew she was 'quirky' and tried to build on it; then it became a bit too much. In the early live stages it was still okay, but then she got ill and it all went downhill. Now she's lost a lot of fans and if she can't get back to her old self tomorrow then I think she could be going home.

Even though I wasn't a big fan, the same could be said for Rachel as well. And Austin never seemed to be the same once he got to the live finals.

![]() Austin was also much better in bootcamp. I think they need to get rid off the mentors- they're useless. |

Yeah, not even Ruth did the same kind of thing in the live shows as she did earlier.. before settling on rock music.
I'd forgot how beautiful her Spanish singing was. This version of Hallelujah is quite nice - Diana should base hers on this version (probably will): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv4hqi...eature=related I think Rachel was much better in Bootcamp as well - You Know I'm No Good, Amazing Grace etc. |

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv4hqi...eature=related I can't say she would ever have been my favourite but I certainly liked her in the auditions, bootcamp and at the judges' house stages. I liked her style and her choice of songs. I can't stand the caricature she has become. Her voice was never totally my cup of tea but it has become ugly. |

I dont think much has changed tbh. I feared something like this would happen, because when people are popular at the beginning, they rarely are at the end.
I dont think her voice/talent has gone downhill, just as more time has gone on she's gathered more hate campaigns. |

Every act has gone downhill. Infact Diana's done better than most of them as she's still in the competition at least.
If you want to look at what went wrong look at Laura, Austin and Rachel. Eoghan was far better at bootcamp too. Also, Alex was amazing at bootcamp but has been soooo bland for the first half of the competition. I think what happens is that you hear them sing 1 or 2 songs really well and you start to think that they can do no wrong. But after they've sung loads more songs and you get to know them more you start to realise that they are not superhuman. |

I agree about Eoghan. I liked his audition, I thought he was good for his age especially, but now he's just a bland kid IMO and Simon has made him into a HSM/Disney kid.

What does LDFB mean?
Amanda has a quirky/hippie sort of voice, not the best version of the song I've heard but it was the closest I could think of to "Bootcamp Diana" and how she sounded. I quite liked her voice (the girl on Idol). It suited her as it was a more acoustic arrangement. |

I think what is most disappointing about this series, perhaps more so than others previously, is how much the raw talent levels seen at auditions / bootcamp have turned out to be bland and mediocre 'artists'.
It's not just Diana, its all of them frankly. I really believe that a whole bunch of talented people have been wasted. And you'd have to say that the mentors and the people behind the scenes are to be blame - its a combination of the advice they are getting and useless song choices. JLS, in particular, have never been given the songs to really showcase what they could do. Laura was clearly set up for a fall, and the obligatory shock exit. Austin was never given the same 'protection', in the form of safe song choices and backing singers, that has repeatedly been given to Eggnog. Rachel was ruined with a crap image and ridiculous song choices. And so it goes on. It's a crying shame that it has turned out this way

Thanks Daewos
![]() Another thing I noticed is they only have 1 vocal coach this season - didnt they have several in previous series? I agree I dont think Rachel had the right image. I think she was/is a soul/gospel type singer but she sang the wrong songs ![]() Ruth actually sang ballads really well in Spanish at Dannii's house, but on the live show wasnt so good at them and they didnt work as well. I'm sure she loved being the rock chick though. |
