I currently have a skypephone on 3 payg which is broken.
I want to get a new phone (skypephone s2) but keep my number (sim card)

I rung 3 and they told me that the new phone wouldn't take me sim card but only the sim card which is packed with the phone will work. So i ask if i could move my number to the new sim i was told that 3 payg sim to 3 payg sim number transfer can't be done.

i'm at a bit of a loose end because i need a new 3 phone but i also want to keep my number...

So quite simply will my sim card work? (are 3 phones really only compatable with the packed sim)

You can't be the first person with a broken phone from 3. I would be incredibly surprised if they don't have a procedure. I would try to avoid 3's call centre in India and try someone in a 3 shop or write to them.

yeah this advice was from their call centre.

It wasn't a nice call ever I did ask loads of time "so what do i have to do to keep my number", all I got was "you'll have to keep your phone". "BUT ITS BROKEN". "so a new phone and new number then"... "I DON'T WANT A NEW NUMBER".

I'll have take a trip down to a 3 store, i guess.

OP's in a similar situation have asked for their PAC number, transferred their preferred number to another network's PAYG sim card, then got the PAC from the other network and transferred it back. Don't know if it will work with Three.

I think that the customer service person you spoke to was wrong.

All you need to do is buy a new Skype phone S2, then take your SIM from your broken phone and put it in your new phone.

Nothing else is required.

Any idea how the included £10 credit would come....
Would i be preloaded on to new sim or in a code voucher form?

Not sure - my job is to fix technical faults on the network. I'm not really sure how the retail side works.

Can anyone else advise how the £10 topup is included when you buy a PAYG phone from 3?

You can't use non-3 sims in the Skype phone but surely any 3 sim should work in there?

If it comes down to it, you might need to do the transfer to another network first as in post 4.

I think 3 do sell vouchers. Hopefully you can buy the voucher to get the PAYG price without having to actually load it onto the new sim which you will be throwing away.
