1 hour per unit you drank. A pint is generally around 2 - 2.5 units.

guideline only , no 3 people are the same , if you are not 110% sure you are safe to drive then get the bus

I would be careful this time of year as the blue bottles are out and about and you can be stopped anywhere anytime.

You may feel perfectly ok in yourself to drive, but you could still be just over the limit and it's not worth losing your licence over just to nip out.

Better still, wait a bit longer and drink a couple of pints of water.

It's roughly 1 hr per unit PLUS 1 hr on the total time.

I normally work on 2 hours for every drink. Pint = 2hours. Shot = equal 2 hours. Small wine = 1 hour.

Better safe than sorry - don't drive and get a cab.

Did anyone see the thing on the news a few days ago about this? They had 4 men, all average build, height etc. And they were out on a tuesday night and got absolutely smashed on 9 or 10 pints of lager, they were falling all over the place. Then got up at 7.30am on the wednesday and as they left the house at 8am they were breathalised by the journalist and every 1 of them passed.

Obviously not everyone is like this though. So I wouldnt recommend chancing it if you feel dodgy.

Also, the 1 hour per unit thing isnt all that accurate. If you dont eat anything during/after the alcohol consumption then the speed that your liver proccesses the alcohol is significantly increased, but its also slowed down if you do eat.

I've heard the one hour per unit from the moment you stop drinking. I always allow two hours per unit, to be sure.

I usually leave it twelve hours at least if I can't remember exactly how many I've had. But if I'm hung over I'll leave it even longer.

When does the clock start running? If you drink a half (one unit) every hour then presumably you will never be over the limit.

After a heavy night, leave it at least 12 hours after the last drink.

If you only had 3 or 4 pints like me, It's probably okay after about 7 hours (average nights kip)

You probably will have *some* alcohol in your system for up to 24 hours after - but you will probably be well under the limit.

Needless to say, everyones different, it's your own decision *arse covering crap*

I would say thats being over cautious. I would say after 3 or 4 pints you would be fine to drive in about 4-5 hours from your last drink. If you wanted all the alcohol to be out of your blood then you would probably need to wait closer to 7 hours.

As a guideline the limit for women is around 3 units and for men is 3-4 units. Of course this varies from person to person so you do still need to be cautious.

Interesting that you give a pint 2 hours which is around 2-2.5 units and a shot 2 hours which at 25ml is only 1 unit and a wine which would be between 1-1.5 units you only gave an hour.

I think ultimately theres no set limit and if you think there is doubt about whether you can drive then you really shouldnt.
