Hurrah, after much experimenting, tonight I am finally tasting the perfect Alcoholic-Jelly. My method was as follows;

- One pack of Rowntrees raspberry flavour jelly
- Dilute in a measuring jug with 270ml of boiling water
- Add 100ml of apple flavoured vodka
- Add 75ml of vanilla flavoured vodka
- Add 50ml of generic brandy
- Add 25ml of undiluted orange squash
- Top measuring jug upto 570ml line with cold water
- Pour into rabbit-shaped* jelly mould
- Add mandarin segments**
- Leave in fridge to settle
- Enjoy
- Don't drive immediately afterwards

Yum, yum, it's pretty tasty if I don't mind admitting myself

* The mould doesn't have to be rabbit-shaped, but it will help it taste better
** I will make the same jelly next week with peach slices and, should this prove to be more successful, I will amend accordingly

Where do you get these speciality vodkas from?

Sounds nice, not sure if I could justify buying 2 bottles of flavoured vodka for something i'd probably only make once though.
I am also intrigued to know how a "rabbit" shaped mould will help make it taste better! Or is that because you ate the whole rabbit before posting?

I made some for halloween when I had a house party before going out, there was about 1/2 a litre of vodka per packet of jelly and it actually set. It tasted quite good as well, although it could of tasted terrible and I wouldn't remember...

Most major supermarkets or off-licences stock a range of flavoured vodkas. The vanilla flavoured one is Absolut. The apple one I used was actually from Ikea! Although I normally buy the Wyborowa version. Chilli vodka, now there's one I get a lot of use from. Incidentally, there's a great little independent shop in Edinburgh's Haymarket that does a great range.

Me neither, but luckily, I drink alcohol quite regularly, and also like to experiment with it in my food. Make quite a nice vodka flavoured sauce that goes well with salmon. Oh dear, this makes me sound quite bad doesn't it!

Yes, good point, I need to make the exact same jelly in my hedgehog and medieval castle moulds before I can make such a bold claim, thanks for pulling me up on that one!
