So...the Hustle and the Argentine Tango next week?
bridgerton

Kristina and Brian are doing a Hustle demo on the results show tomorrow along with Flavia and Vincent's Argentine Tango. Hopefully the Hustle will be the second dance to be performed in the semi-final. Does anyone have any news on this?

There was the group Disco routine which was a lot of the Hustle anyway and they introduced it into DWTS this last season. Anyone buy into my theory?

I really don't want to see two new routines in the semi, it's not really fair on the celebs if the pros are learning too.

I'm hoping it will be a previous dance rather than the Hustle

Well Vincents obviously an expert in the AT and Camilla had a go at it last year, so the only two it would be a possible disadvantage to would be Brendan & Erin

Eugh the Hustle being introduced will ruin the show's credibility. I'm hoping as well that they have to do a judge's choice or choose a dance they didn't do that well in previously or pick one for new choreography.

I don't think they should choose dances the pros are unfamiliar with - especially the Hustle which was rubbish on DWTS and can't imagine it being any better here.

As for the pro performances of them I'm   to both, unfortunately.

Maybe they have to do a 3 couple VW round with the AT as that's what the pro group dance is rather than doing it in the final? *shrugs*

I agree katie_p, I think the semi-finals are demanding enough with the Argentine Tango (except for Vincent or Flavia, obviously), without yet another unfamiliar dance. I'd rather see the celebs have to dance their lowest scoring dance again in the semis - I think this has been discussed on another thread, and apparently on DWTS that's what has happened before (?). That would at least give an indication on how much improvement each of the celebs really has made, whereas a brand new dance new to the professional could mean the celebrity partner suffers simply because his or her pro struggles with a new dance themselves.

Well as long as it's not the Lindy Hop...I hate that dance..lol

To be honest I'd rather they danced the Hustle and scrapped the Argentine Tango. The AT does nothing for me, it just looks like lots of swaying back and forth and flicking legs... (maybe I should be posting this in the Heresay thread...)

I agree Katie. I remember watching DWTS, and poor Derek Hough was so frustrated, because not only was his celebrity partner Brooke, learning the Lindy Hop, he had to learn it too.

It's not very fair on the professional dancers who have yet to perform the Hustle.

I quite like the Hustle. Admittedly, it didn't necessarily work on DWTS though!

I wouldn't mind them scrapping the AT either (I actually don't like V&F's style of doing it) or the Salsa for that matter. But a definite no to the likes of the Hustle, Lindy Hop or other such rubbish!

Didn't Susan Lucci and Warren Sapp perform the Hustle?

I believe so...Warren Sapp did it in the semi-final. Perhaps if it had been performed with better dancers, it might have had more of an impact.

That'd mean the following'd be performed:

Austin and Erin: Rumba (scored 29 in week 8)
Lisa and Brendan: Salsa (scored 22 in week 2)
Rachel and Vincent: Samba (scored 30 in week 5)
Tom and Camilla: Cha Cha Cha (scored 28 in week 1)

Tom and Lisa may benefit from gaining more experience and technique, as they've performed samba, salsa and cha cha now (I always count those threee dances in the same bracket), and their worst dances occured in their respective first weeks.

Austin, I don't think, has any chance to improve the Rumba, it's just not his dance. In two minds about Rachel and the Samba, though she managed the cha cha cha ok tonight.

Not surprising that all four dances are Latin is it? I agree that Austin would be easily at the biggest disadvantage with this system. However, all systems are flawed and I actually think this isn't a bad one. I'd be very interested to see all of the other dances again as I think they might all improve significantly. After all, every couple has to dance every dance.

It'd be a good comparison to make, I agree. At least then the pro's know what they're doing instead of teaching blind, and it does show clear improvement for each couple. I mean - what does it say for Tom and Lisa that their worst dances came in their first week?

I don't think any of those dancers had criticism regarding choreography, but if they did - do you think the pro's should have an opportunity to change it?

Well if it is those two dances then Rachel has the definite advantage with Vincent as her teacher I would say.

Camilla can spin well
Erin can spin
Rachel looks like she would me able to master the hustle spin
Lisa is going to have problems sadly.

Austin and Tom will be lucky with this dance.

I don't think any of them would struggle too much. They all managed to perform well in the group Disco routine a couple of weeks ago.

Warren
and Susan did the hustle but it wasn't in the semi It was in the week they introduced the new dances. Warren and Lance did the jitterbug in the semi.

I think the hustle will be a piece of cake for them all - a boring dance imho.
