"Not my favourite song in the world that, because it doesn't have...the big moment"
This certainly explains something - I have always noticed that so many songs on the X factor have a "big moment". I thought it was probably a crowd pleasing thing, and/or a way to make the singers sound better than they were (as singing loudly is easier than singing quietly). Maybe it is also the influence of the cowell.

Either way, I think he is completely wrong. Songs do not need to be so formulaic! In fact, it was a refreshing change to hear a song without a big top note on this program.

I agree Simon was wrong with his comments. I think he's been losing the plot a lot of times this series and probably why he is quitting. I thought Diana sang it well, my only criticism is that you could hear her nerves in her voice as this exposed her vocally, and she didn't have the background singers to cover them up like eoghan does, but all credit to her for choosing this song

"Key Change Cowell"

I like him and he's good at what he does. But for a brief moment my estimation of his abilities went up when he seemed to be backing Diana because I thought he might be willing to take a risk and not sign another typical belter. Sadly, it was very brief and he got back to his old ways as I feared he might. He was just looking for a thin and unmemorable criticism of her on tonights show.

(Not that he could give a sh*t what my estimation of his abilities is, of course!)

Does the Mr Blobby song have a big moment?
That's one of his isn't it and that got to number 1.

IT was an unfair comment, it showed how good she was imo the emotion she showed through the song without having to scream as if crying the lyrics out to show emotion.

If alex/jls/eoghan manages to perform with 1/100th of the emotion Diana performed with, I'll vote for them in the final. I know my 35p is safe though.

I loved White Flag. The second performance more so.

I don't see why a song has to have a huge key change for there to be a moment. It's such a formulaic aspect of the show that frustrates me a lot.

Mr. Cowell is all about the "dramatic" key change to make a song
