I was even dissapointed with that given the build up on ITT. It was a good dance packed with technical content, but it was undoubtedly not perfectly executed. There were several fairly obvious faults. Whether it is fair to overlook them when the content is high and still give 10's is a matter of opinion. So is the question of performance. It still looks like Robotango to me (not helped by the music, I admit) despite repeated viewings. But others see things differently.

I'm no expert, but as a lay person, who spent years accompanying my daughter to competitions, in my humble opinion the past two-three weeks have shown a perfection in Rachel that I have come to like. No, she doesn't have Alesha's natural zest or confidence, and she can't put on an act like Lisa, but the girl can dance and does seem to have a sweet-natured personality.

I really can't believe the flack she's getting. I remember only too well last year that Alesha came under the same barrage of hate-filled posts just because she showed signs of winning.

I love coming on these forums, but the unhealthy negativity makes it less and less enjoyable and sad.

I'm another saddo that's watched and rewatched the dance on iplayer about a dozen times! I appreciated the clever details so much more - my favourite part being the clicking of the heels.

I haven't got a favourite this season, but R&V's tango...well.

I don't think I drew breath the whole time they were dancing! So sexy! They moved to smoothly it was like they were stuck together with superglue - and the dress was absolutely stunning! Good choice of music too - even the audience was clapping along!!

In regard to facial expression, I thought Rachel was very similar to Flavia last year, when Flavia was dancing the tango with Matt, and Flavia knows what she is doing.

I enjoyed Rachel's Tango, but recently I discovered Zoe Ball and Ian's Tango - and that was SOOOO much better, but got a 38 compared to Rachel's 39?

I know nothing about dancing or anything, but I can tell what I'm enjoying and what im not, and I think Zoe did better - im not sure if anyone will agree with me lol.

It was a slight stumble near the start, and either one or two kicks near the end which were about 1/100th of a second ahead of Vincents. A ten doesn't mean perfection, or even that it's as good as a professional would do (unless it's Craig).

We also saw a ten for Austin's Samba, which is what got Brendan furious on Lisa's behalf.

I agree Sid as on Friday I didn't understand the comments R&V were getting for their Tango tarining until someone explained it to me on here.

I think most other SCD couples have chosen the 'Zoe' style of Tango and R&V (and Flavia and Matt Di I think were doing a different style) and on the night I just loved it!

I think Vincent and Favia try to incorporate elements of "AT styling" into their ballroom tango whereas I'm guessing everyone else goes for the more classic style.

I loved both Zoe's and Rachels... but yeah each is very different in terms of choreography,style and music choice.

I loved watching Zoe and Ian's tango again-I must put that on my faves..!

I don't think they can be directly compared as such, totally different style wise and also musically, but for what it's worth...

Zoe and Ian's had a great set up, which told the story they wanted to tell-traditional tango aggressive style, performed wonderfully by Zoe-her tango face rocked! lol.

can I also add that the camera work for that dance highlights how poor this years has been? Great close ups of footwork, expressions and aerial shots to impart the speed and movement of the choreography...*sighs*

Rachels and Vincents as fatskia mentions is less about aggression-it explores the passion of the tango-the longing of it. The dance begins immediately, and matches the song so well-the eye contact, and synchronicity of their moves were just exquisite! The subtle flourishes to the music, the sway, the sharpness, the clean lines and purity just wow.

Ian is a genius at creating show pieces, great drama, storytelling and combining them with the elements to please the judges and the audience. (Even I have been won over on repeat viewing of this years waltz with Jodie-thought it too sweet, now think it is adorable)

Vincent went for clever content, that you either got or didn't-but it had no less wow factor for me. They smouldered!!

Has everyone forgotten how criticised Zoe was back then? How over-marked she supposedly was, and so on?

Zoe was the "Rachel" of her year.

It was quite simply superb!!

I thought there were a few excellent parts but overall it was quite shaky.

I would just like to add that Vincent really knows his tango, I also love the fact that he went for the sadness, longing and loneliness side of the dance.

Apart from that, I am one of those annoying people who prefers her tango to traditional music.

It's par for the course though. I see celeb females come in for a great deal more stick than the male celebs.

It seems to me that there will always be a bias against the girls simply because there is a much greater percentage of female viewers and voters. Just look at the bile directed at Lisa for knocking out Austin.

Though Tom is my second favourite and despite that 'big girls blouse' Brenda throwing another girlie tantrum, I'm liking the idea of an all girl final.

And there's a very real possibility it could happen. Tom would have to finish at the bottom of the judges leaderboard AND the girl at the top would have to finish second in the public vote, leaving Tom definitely in the dance-off. Then, against either Rachel or Lisa, Tom could go.
