Up until last night I would have said that the crown belonged to Brenda (and I didnt even like her), but after last night I really think that has to be one of the most poignant moments in X Factor history.

Everything down to the song choice was so iconic, the words to the song, and the way Diana struggled to sing through it at the beginning, until Eoghan and co came on to comfort her.

Even Simon looked as though he was going to cry haha, but yeah, I really do think that has to be one of the most amazing and emotional exits ever, and even Diana's first performance of White Flag was so iconic, it was like she knew she was going all night, but made a point.

Love her or hate her, she left the contest with grace and dignity, no sour grapes, no nothing, just grateful for the opportunity she was given and I for one can't wait to see what happens next.

Completely agree! I felt the emotion in her final performance, it was so sad

As I said on TIBB, I so agree with you. Diana is a lovely girl. Plus her boyfriend is just so lucky

Totally agree. Diana took it so well, and that performance really gets to me.

Sorry, I didn't pay much attention to Ruth's exit, Im sure it was very graceful, but I didn't really notice.

Ruth was gracious but the exit was perhaps not as emotional as Dianas and that is no reflection on her.

Just because someone didn't run on bawling their eyes out at the end of her song doesn't mean it wasn't emotional.

(And if you'd watched you'd have seen Louis tearing up during her final performance of Always.)

Diana herself was dignified but the pathetic spectacle that unfolded when crybaby Eoghan and the others invaded the stage was all-time embarrassing low even by this show's OTT standards. I was cringing so much I actually couldn't watch.

I wasn't a Diana fan (at all) so I wasn't bothered by her going but she did take it very well and she's a lovely girl, so credit to her for that. I think she only got emotional herself because of Eoghan. She came across very well on Xtra Factor too. And she has taken a lot of flack from the press and everything, so she's done good. And she definitely put her heart into White Flag, both before and after the results, so at least she went out on a high.

Other really graceful exits were Ruth's and Daniel's who I also think deserve a mention. For me Ruth's exit was the most emotional but that's because she was my favourite.

Yes, how dare I be free to express my thoughts on an open forum. Very horrible and mean-spirited of me.

Yes, she mouthed 'that's fair' when she was announced. I want Alex to win but I would have liked Diana to have been in the final too.

I think that the exits have been gracious, I'm not sure that they were particularly graceful, not that they were ungraceful either but I'm not sure that it has much meaning here.

I thought so too, I wasn't even keen on Diana - but she handled that like a lady.
I also thought she sang much better the 2nd time. Wish her luck.

Diana is a lovely girl.It was awful to see her stitched-up like she was.

Good luck to her for the future.

Iconic?!

Okay...

I have to admit though I was quite moved when Eoghan and Diana were hugging each other, and this is from somebody who can't stand the Egg and didn't get all the hype over Little Vickers. It was a real moment.

What I hated was the way they kept it up - Eoghan running on stage to hug her before she could even finish her song. The rest of them coming on and embracing her as if she was about to be sent to the firing squad.

It was a bit too much.

It was only emotional because of Eoghan...and then when the rest of them jumped on the "we're gonna miss Diana, this is absolutely devastating" bandwagon - jeez.

Ruth's was less 'in your face'. The shot of Louis crying watching her incredible performance was what got me about her exit.

The whole Eoghan bit was a little too much for me too. The cynical part of me thinks they pushed him towards doing it but whatever, it happened and some found it cute. I like Diana alot though, she seems like a lovely girl.

I thought Ruth and Diana both showed themselves to be lovely by how well they handled their exits. Both of them went up in my estimations following them (although I liked them both anyway). They should both be proud of themselves for it.
