Judges; my 8 year old son is distraught that his hero Austin has been voted off. He thought he was brilliant! He just wanted to ask the judges why Rachel seems to be over marked, yet he isn't.
There is nothing like a child's opinion for showing the truth....

Do us a favour! Your 8-year old is complaining of over marking? Right! I agree Austin was great, but as for the rest...

Could we get your son as judge next year, please? Preferably replacing Len.

An eight year old grasps and uses the concept of overmarking? Brilliant.

Wow you really want to introduce your son to the real world, if he's disraught by this!

Tell your 8 year old that life is full of disappointment.

No doubt other 8 year old kids are delighted that Rachel, Lisa or Tom are through. Now whose opinion shows the truth?

What would you suggest? Shoving in out on the street or something? He's 8!

It's possible he has a parent who is prone to exaggerate somewhat and possibly even use the child as a weapon to try and make others feel guilty - that's surely enough for an 8-year-old to cope with for now...

I certainly would suggest sending him to be at a reasonable time if he is eight!

Very few people know what the judges are looking for, and 8-year-olds certainly don't. Personally I fancied Austin a lot more than I fancied Lisa, so I'm sorry he's gone, but Austin was at the bottom of the board and Lisa's waltz was stunning this week. Not much between them, but Lisa had the edge. Now we all need to get over it in our own way.

Cut the OP some slack you lot. This is a discussion forum where people air their views. She is perfectly entitled to state opinions on behalf of someone else on here id she wishes.

As are the many other kids who, surprisingly, would have been distraught had Rachel, Tom or Lisa gone out.

Tell him it's just tv - give him a choccy bar, a can of coke and a cuddle. Tomorrow he will no doubt be distraught over something else.

But as the opinions of 8 year old kids vary as much as any other age group, why the assumption that this particular 8 year old sees the truth?

Blimey, the world seems to be full of people who only know stupid 8-year-olds who need a lot of sleep, and think you're never too young to learn that life's a bitch and then you die.

Oh please!
My own kids opinions aren't that important to me (about reality TV matters)
Why would I care that someone else's kid is upset.
It's really something he should be getting distraught about.

Maybe you should remind your son that it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game.

I hope your 8 year old is now in bed and should have been at 10.40 when you started this thread unless he was too distraught to sleep?

Your son is looking for an excuse as to why his hero left the show that's all? He's caught on to a phrase he has heard of "over scoring" and he's gonna use it. Clever these kidlets hey?

The right person left tonight. Rachel, Lisa and Tom danced better. Give him a hug, kisses and cuddles and say goodnight.

Methinks the child is distraught because he saw his mum very distraught. Rightie, Sussie?

Yep i agree Rachel Stevens has been overmarked ever since she was in the bottom 2 and the judges got the hump that John Sergeant should have been.
