Is the child still distraught or has he woken up with a different crisis today, like how long it's been since Mum's let him have a big mac

Someone started a thread last night complaining that her 5 year old cousin was very upset that Austin had left the competition. The implication with these people seems to be that children's sensibilities and egos are somehow sacrosanct and because of their feelings Austin should have been allowed to stay, even though he was the worst dancer on the night and left according to the rules.

They seem to forget there are plenty of people of ALL ages who are perfectly happy with the result.

OP. seriously, you ought perhaps to explain to your son that there are far more important things going on in the world than whether his favourite person gets to stay in a competition/tv show.

Shame on you SusieW! Using your own child to express your personal disappointments.

If he can't cope with the nature of this light entertainment programme then you shouldn't let him watch it!

As for him seeing the 'truth' - you mean he agrees with your opinion - that's not truth. It's opinion.

My children are not distraught at last night's results - they are ectastic. In fact, they would go so far as to say that Austin was dramatically overmarked in the first part of this series - and couldn't deliver on it later.

Yup the kid would be far more normal if he was distraught about people dying from cholera in Zimbabwe, rather than Strictly!

”

Agree with you Mamaboogie!

I have two small boys - and I would not use them to try to manipulate other people's feelings like this!

Fine if that's what he feels - that will be his OPINION, as Mamaboogie says, but PLEASE don't use children to try to manipulate what other people should feel - be honest and say its you!

Poor show, OP!

Maybe Austin showed a bit too much personality and a bit of showmanship humour. The judges hate that. Austin removing his shirt at the end was brilliant. I loved Erin and Austin in the show.

Strange how the boards were littered with bitchy comments when Mark removed his shirt; wonder if any of them sneered at Austin.

Not directing my comments at you personally MrsS - obviously I don't know what your views were

My 11 month-old grandson has been crying incessantly since the Results Show on Sunday evening.

I can't work out whether it's because Austin's gone (boo!) or because he's got a another tooth coming through...

Wow! The knives are out on this one....why?

Its a pretty harmless post from a Mum about her 8 year old...20 years ago my 8 year was gutted when Darth Vader died in son, Luke Skywalker's arms...

Kids that age can be really passionate about stuff - call it childish enthusiasm - I can understand any 8 year old boy being a fan of Austin and sorry to see him go. My son-in-law is a professional rugby player and he spends ages after the match signing programmes etc for the kids....

Lighten up guys...I've just read another thread about the level vitriol and bitchiness on the threads this year......

I feel it's inappropriate and ever so slightly manipulative.

Bless his heart. I think Austin would identify with that problem having teething twins!
