These things generally find their natural level and the winner. when all the dust has settled is the person who combines an acceptable level of dancing with public popularity.

Series 3 was always going to be a male winner. It was the 'big' topic. Would a man ever be able to win?

I actually think Tom will get to the final and win. It will give them a symmetry of 3 male/female wins and it will also show that a non-sportsman has just as much of a chance of winning.”

Quite.

There's never been an all female final before, though.....

Ah, the heady days of a 3-way final

Jill and Denise were the last couples standing, though.

Thanks mindyann for clearing that up for me

They were, but the final was not all female. I have a feeling that this is what we may finish up with this year.

Both have been majorly overmarked for a while now. Lisa's jive WAS not very good. Tough truth.

Tom might not have had his "shine" moment but he's the ONLY one who has been consistently good & also capable of doing both, while keeping the fun in the program and not coming across as desperate like puppy dog Rachel. Eurgh.”

Agreed even his paso (which I hated with as much passion as I did Austin's departure and the judges marking which led to) had it's good bits. He's certainly never been boring which I think the judges underestimate the importance of and there's a lovely fluidity and enthuisasm to his dancing which Lisa and Rachel totally lack - he really does look he's enjoying himself which is infectious.

I love it! The first real laugh I have had since saturday night.

Discuss!”

Unfortunately that isnt the case as the judges can easily make sure he is in the dance-off this week even if he is easily the most popular with the public. Then we are faced with a potential Final with two couples who have continuously been in the bottom two but saved by the judges. It will be a battle of who is the least unpopular. The public may be left with a Final where none of their own favourites are actually taking part.

This year it came popularized and it is the fault of both sections of the public and the judges. The JS affair showed a serious conflict between the two sections - perhaps last night proved that JS was wrong that he wouldn't have won as the judges could get rid of someone popular by marking them at the bottom of the leaderboard. However we've seen serious fault lines - the public love those the judges do not and the judges love people the judges do not. Tom is the last man left standing who has the support of both and if he goes next Saturday then the popularization will be complete and the show will have become as much of a farce as if John Sargeant had won. There has to be balance and the favoritism of both judges and public has got out of hand without either trusting or considering what the others hold dear and each battling to enforce their will on the other. Ultimately this series has lost through it and I fear that it may kill the show totally.”

Great post and I totally agree. I admit to being a Tom fan but if he gets voted out next week through skullduggery from the judges manipulations then it makes the Final a total farce as it is clear that this is not the Final that a majority of the voting public desired. If the judges want their own way about who gets to the Final then stop taking money from the voting public under the pretence that their favourite will go through to the next round despite favouritism of others by the judges. The public soon catch on when they are being taken for fools and it will kill the show eventually if producers and judges continue to manipulate the voting to get a desired result and eventual winner of their own choice.

He did seem to have a point somewhat but it's not ENTIRELY valid. After all, he didn't complain about the ten he received for that cha-cha with Lisa though it was clear he didn't think they deserve it.

BTW, I think both Lisa and Austin deserved their tens in their Cha-Cha and Salsa respectively...

I have a feeling that Tom will win but of course it depends how they all dance next week. We really cannot tell, it could be anyone. They are all so good. I think it is quite exciting - I know it is hard to see someone go, like Austin, but we know they can't all be in the final.
