True. But nor was I getting a fair few thousand quid for the inconvenience either.

Understood. But I think it's fair to say that Tom was probably asked constantly about his wedding and had little choice but to talk or look like an ar*e.

Nah. I am a traditionist. Go with the old tags.

He seems genuinely nice but he is an actor so sometimes the acting will take over. He does well considering.

I'm sure he is lovely in real life but it seems like we are getting:

Strictly Come Dancing starring Tom Chambers as "Tom the Dancer"

Do you think he was faking joy when Len gave him the pity 10 a couple of weeks ago?

I take it the OP must know Tom personally, very well, to be able to make such a judgement on his character.

Either that or they are a mindreader.

I think Tom's a sweetie and wears his heart on his sleeve. His foxtrot was the best dance of the night

I was down the pub with him last night working on his Latin face but it kept looking like

Exactly my thoughts. OP, I think you got confused - Tom is the smug one, the fake label is already in use.

There was a post a while ago when we used icons to demonstrate the celeb and pro dance faces.

= Tom and = Camilla

Tom isn't fake. I thought his fox trot was the best of the night. In fact for me as a viewer is the most interesting foxtrot in a long time. it had some pizazz missing from Rachel's foxtrot.

His rumba was a bit of a mess but I think Camilla wanted to make it less boring by adding in some shapes and lines but Len did not like it. The rumba is one of Camilla's specialities so she must know what shes doing. Craig liked it.

I think his reactions are real when hes gone through or when he got three 10's. They were even pleased of 8's and 9's unlike Erin who had a sad face on or Brendan who throws a wobbly.

Tom and Camilla support each other which is all you ask for in a couple.

I think he is lovely. He seems such a nice guy. I got a bit fed up with the constant talk of "THE WEDDING" but think he is a great dancer. I am torn between him and Camilla and Rachel and Vincent who I think dance wonderfully together. Vincent has been amazing with his routines. I do not understand why Rachel and Vincent have been so often in the dance off. Why don't the public like her??? She is rather desperate to win which I suppose puts a lot of people off.

I agree with you about Tom and Rachel, DG. They are my favourites and the weekend's outcome was just about perfect for me.

In terms of Tom's wedding talk, I keep remembering that this is an edited programme and the producers decide not only what we should hear but practically write the scripts for the dancers (pro and celeb).

I bet one of the current questions is:
"Everyone's saying how close this year's competition is and how tense you all are. I want you to tell me in three short sentences how the tension is getting to you and what a HUGE relief it will be to get into next week's show and how MUCH it really matters to you."

I don't really like his dancing, though I'm sure he's fine in real life. And the faces he pulls are a bit off-putting.

I like him. I never thought he was smug and I don't think he's "fake", except in the way that all actors learn to fake for a living. I agree with earlier posters: he seems popular with the other competitors and pros and that's the best insight I have into what kind of man he is.

I expect you're only saying this because he stayed in against your favourite OR one of your favourite's are at risk because of him. Am I right. Don't worry, its human nature.

As a complete layperson, I'm probably missing this aspect when I watch Tom compared to the girls. I can see that there is an immaculate shape to what Lisa and Rachel are doing when they are in ballroom hold, compared to Tom, but on Saturday night I thought there was some real romantic magic about Tom and Camilla's Foxtrot that I completely missed in Lisa and Brendan's Waltz. Also, is Lisa overall really a better dancer - in and out of hold, Latin included, and 'performance' wise - than Tom?

I agree with you except that the one thing about him which is genuine is his desperation to win!
I do not find such needy desperation very attractive.

It's funny, you see desperation and I see enthusiasm and entering into the spirit of the show.

I think Tom is very sweet actually. And his standing in for Brendan on Saturday was probably the best part of the night for me!

Dancing wise, his foxtrot was a great improvement. His Latin has always been decent and he's the most entertaining performer left of the three. His dances make me smile whereas Lisa and Rachel's, whilst impressive, leave me a little cold.

Hope he wins it.

Whilst I don't foresee Tom troubling the Oscar voting during his acting career, I do find him a very sweet guy, and not in the least fake. Plus his rampant face pulling has been an highlight of SCD6 for me, for the paso face alone I'm happy for him to take the crown (now my boy has gone )

I don't see the 'fake' bit at all. He is enthusiastic, looks like he genuinely loves his dancing and throws himself into character - part of his day job.
When he stepped into the gap left by Brendan on Saturday it was a warm gesture. He was waiting to go on next and should have been composing himself for a romantic dance but he reacted impulsively and it was an amusing and touching thing to do.

If you listened properly to what is being said you will hear that it is nearly always a presenter, i.e. Tess, Bruce, Claudia etc who bring up the suject of his wedding/wife.

He has to answer politely, would you rather he just said 'I cant say anything because it will upset a few numptys on DS'????

What about Austin 'constantly' going on about his 4 daughters? Or Brendan and his engagement that keeps being mentioned?? (neither of which bother me in the slightest, but it is the same thing)

Why Tom answering questions about his wife/ wedding should upset people I dont know!

I completely disagree that Tom appears fake whatsoever. He seems to be so copletely enthusiastic about dancing in the competition, and the degree of sincerity is so great that it can be a bit annoying but that is probably because he is soo gushing. He just really cares! Seeing him jump about with excitement when recieving the 10s was anything but fake!
