Secondly, your analogy with the Premiership. That is decided on a level playing field, and hopefully the best team ends up with the title ( as long as its not Man U )..in the head to head dance-off on SCD they are performing different dances with different degrees of difficulty. In that respect its more like the FA Cup..Lisa drew a mid table Championship side ( the waltz ) and Austin had to play another Premiership side ( the salsa )”

Agree those but the main point was that you need to win the matches to proceed whoever turns up.

X factor has more lattitude the other way because Simon can send home whoever he wants for whatever reason he wants - he doesn't have the problem of having just given marks to the same songs and looking silly reversing himself. He just says Eoghan is the best thing since Donny and sends anyone else home. Simon also has a different motive - at the extreme the SCD judges want the best dancers in the final however popular they are - Simon doesn't want people who are not popular as he needs people to buy albums. Len has no financial interest in his finalists being popular just in getting a final thats good enough.

The problem of diferent dances is difficult but it also works various ways at various stages - the average salsa may get more public votes early on for excitement than the average waltz but the judges might go the other way when you are in the dance off later on. Thats why the AT for everyone now is a good idea. Can't see them going for everyone doing all the same dances though even if its fairer. Don't think they could possibly fix the order dances are danced in advance to get some people through either- you couldn't predict early on who would do what well and its clear from Rachel that they got what dances she would do well and not so well around the wrong way.

I have no idea who is going on Saturday. They all have a good case to stay. Tom and Lisa could easily turn in great or average dances. Rachel could falter or fly. Lisa and Rachel could both credibly outdance each other or Tom in a dance off with teh right dance . I think Rachel's better (and has the marks to prove it) but she's often treated as if she is training miles away in Iceland by ITT and the other contestants and the praise for Lisa over the last few weeks has closed (papered over?) the margin between them. That dance off could be as controversial as Tom being in it and going if the margin who goes isn't clear. Could be anyone going and, because the dancing may be tight, a lot of people are going to be unhappy.

Does that go for all countries?

I agree with all the points you have made. After I had posted, it occurred to me that Simon's motives in the X-Factor were entirely different.
The only thing SCD could possibly learn from X-Factor is the way in which the dance-off is organised. Perhaps the contestants in SCD could choose their favourite dance ?
It would please the viewers at home, giving them possibly a last chance to see the celebrity perform "at their best".
As it stands, the dance-off is fairly meaningless. If a contestant has failed to impress the judges with their alloted dance, they are extremely unlikely to turn that around when given a second chance. On the X-Factor, a stunning performance of a song of the contestant's choosing can keep them in the competition...Ruth managed that twice this year.
