Maybe Tom's assuming he'll go and just wants to do his favourite dance one last time (or two if he's in the dance-off)?

I know it does not make sense does it. WHy would Tom choose a latin when the girls do a ballroom. Camilla must be certain Tom can pull off a cracking AT then.

SOrry I didn't mean it like that but considering Camilla has lost in a semi twice already I exepcted her to boss Tom around and go for an easy dance.

I'm a T&C fan but I now think hes just blown his chance.

They can't do both QS and AS are both ballroom dances and you have to do a latin and a ballroom in the final

I would imagine they will score well with the jive - a 33 with their 2nd dance of the series says to me that 38/39 would not be unachievable.

At least they are going for broke rather than playing safe - i'd much rather see that, and see how much he has improved - at least it will be exciting to see and will liven up the semi.

Wearing my practical head I hear all you say but I still love their guts.

Think back to Jill's jive and Gethin's last series - they made me whoop & "loop the loop" in Claudiaspeak.

Tom & Camilla did the Jive in Week 3 - he's got so much better (as have all three) since then.

This will light up the semi and might be the WOW dance everybody's been waiting for - so much more interesting than three ballroom dances, safe & technically sound. Good on them.

It could be a good decision because maybe they are trying to prove the point that they can do latin compared to the other two who are far weaker in the latin dances and they are trying to appeal to the public who like wow dances.

They probably think that they need to be saved by the public and that the judges won't save them in a dance off due to Austin last week and the fact the two girls have been saved 3 times.

Also by picking a dance that they got lower marks for they can improve whereas if you pick a 39/40 dances the judge may mark you harder because it wasn't as good as the last time.

I thought Tom Jive was great the last time but could be improved don't know how much more Lisa can improve with the QS

AT is nearer the ballroom side of dance as it is related to the ballroom tango so doing a latin dance makes more sense than a ballroom.

Although, we do not yet know what Rachel and Vincent have chosen. I'm hoping it's a ballroom. But they could play their Ace card in the Latin and choose the Rumba, just to give themselves the best possible chance of reaching the final (either directly or via the dance-off).

My advice to all the couples is to make sure they have Len on-side. Whatever the pros choreograph make sure there's no faffing about and that the routines contain the right content. After all, in the dance-off Len has the casting vote. In a tight vote, you definitely need Len on your side. Don't upset the Head Judge by including useless poncing about. Heed Len's words after Rachel and Vincent's Tango - no messing about and straight into hold.

I think they should all do the same 2 dances then we could judge them against each ther in a fair way

Its possible it was really no contest for Camilla to decide on a Latin, only one of his ballrooms (last weeks foxtrot) got the same sort of marks as the girls ballroom's so it was too big a risk I think. Brave choice but as Bruno said yesterday on ITT a latin is always going to struggle in the dance off against someone with a beautiful waltz, or quckstep or foxtrot of vienesse waltz. We can but wait and see.

Perhaps they've all been told to pick a dance that didnt score over say 36 and to see whether they can improve on it.

If that is the case Rachel won't be able to choose any of her slow dances( I think)

I thought the Week 3 jive T&C did was absolutely great, and like you say they should manage to improve on that now. But I still worry that it's a risky choice for Tom... "safe and technically sound" has been very much the vogue this year. :sleep:

What about their Vienesse Waltz?? Only scored 32, but if Vincent could spruce it up and be more ambitious, could be a corker.

Or perhaps their faster Quickstep which scored 35 ( I believe).

I think Rachel and Vincent have more than enough good dances to choose from. If they wanted a Latin which scored less than 36, I'd definitely go for their Salsa. A great dance, given it was her first.

I can't see this happening. We at least know Lisa is performing her Quickstep. When she repeated this dance in the dance-off it was superb. I can't see Tom beating this with a Jive.

And will the dance order make any difference?? Who will be dancing first??

Tom HAS to be either top or at least second on the leaderboard to avoid dance-off. If he's third on the leaderboard, then he's very, very likely to be in the dance-off and be voted off. AT and jive?! Both latin dances!

Really gutted Tom is doing the jive.
IMO its very unlikely the judges will mark that highly as they rarely give a jive 10s whereas Lisa can easily get 10s for her quickstep

I think Tom is going to go this week. I adore him but if hes bottom of the leaderboard there no point voting for him as he'll go regardless of how many votes he gets

Well if Camilla chose it I can't imagine she did it cos it was the only dance she could think of at the time

R&V doing Foxtrot

Are the doing EXACTLY the same dance again or are they re-choregraphing/using new music?

Because Tom's Jive had dreadful music the first time round...

It has to be new coreography so I assume new music too....that was implied by Matthew and Flavia on ITT but not actually confirmed.

Rachel and Vincent are doing foxtrot.

IMO, that's R&V definately through to the final. No way are the judges going to get rid of her if she's got a dance that scored the perfect, and a dance that her partner is a champion at.

I absoloutely loved Tom's jive (loved the music) and I really really hope he can pull this one off.

It doesn't necessarily follow that there's no point voting for him if he's bottom - it depends on the order of the two women above him and their viewer popularity.

Assuming SmileyC's post on the Maths thread is correct, Tom is most popular by a long way and Rachel is least with Lisa in the middle.

Rachel top with judges = 3 + 1 public = 4
Lisa 2nd with judges = 2 + 2 public = 4
Tom bottom with judges = 1 + 3 public = 4

Tom not in dance-off because viewers' vote has more weight.

Looking at my non-existent crystal ball, I agree R&V are certain to go through to the final. They should get 39 or 40 for their Foxtrot, and I'd imagine 38 or 39 for the AT... the only question is whether Rachel will be able to provide the modicum of smouldering passion needed to make the AT convincing, because the choreography will be there and I'm sure she'll handle the steps well enough.

I loved Tom's original jive too - and the music, Black and Gold. But even if he can do better this time round I somehow can't see him scoring more than 34 or 35 for it, unless it's an absolute belter. Funnily enough, I can see him handling the AT better, he's potentially got a kind of gaucho look, and as long as he doesn't overdo the facial expression he should be able to perform it pretty well. Camilla just needs to not mess up the choreography. But I'm not foreseeing any 10s - 36/40 maybe?

Brendan admitted he'd never danced let alone choreographed an AT. I'm sure he and Lisa will do a creditable job - 35/40 maybe. I think they'll get 38 or 39 for their Quickstep, to edge into second place on the leader board.

It's all down to how the public place Lisa and Rachel. Assuming Tom wins the public vote, I think he needs Rachel, the likely judges winner, to finish bottom with the public in order to avoid the dance off. He's had it if he's in the dance off, methinks.
