The rules were the same for both Lisa and Austin. They both had two opportunities to impress the judges and public. Lisa's waltz did just that (and I will repeat I found it mind blowing - a very apt description imo)! I expected Austin's AS to be something very special - if it had been the dance off result would have been far less cut and dried. In the event it was simply no contest.

Given the hypothesis you quote - Austin doing the waltz and Lisa the salsa with Austin emerging victorious do you really think the OP would be claiming NOT fair?”

Well, I can't really answer for the original poster.
I dont think it was unfair given the individual performances in the dance-off..my gripe concerns one contestant doing a Waltz, the other doing a Salsa. We will just have to agree to disagree about the comparative difficulties of those two dances..it has always seemed to me that the Waltz was well within the "comfort zone" of the majority of celebs.
I agree with you about the American Smooth..I really thought that it would have been Austins's opportunity to shine..unimaginative choreography by Erin in my opinion, she seemed to play safe, unusual for her ?

1. I was not screaming, please calm down. I did say I would have been sad to see any of the dancers leave.
2 If you listen to the judges throughout the series they say ALL the dances are difficult, the truth is (1984) that some dances are more difficult than others.
3 As pointed out by an earlier post that in other contests(eg diving) where different actions are performed then a weighting factor is added to compensate the degree of
difficulty.
4 I do believe the judges were "carried away" after the first dance in awarding 39/40 to the next three dances.

Looking forward th the semi, still think dance off should be done with same dance.
Look no screaming.
