Anyone else blighted with a constantly scaled-up filter jug?

Any ideas on what can I wash it in - kettle de-scaler?

It's getting to the once a week stage and we're considering putting one of those filters in at the tap stage - anyone got one?

I had a filter and it was good - the cartridge needed replacing every 6 months or so.
We decided not to put one in the new kitchen though, as coffee tastes better with hard water (the proper brewed type that is), and we just descale the kettle with descaler once a month or so. It helps to get a kettle with a concealed element, means the scale doesn't build up quite as quickly. You can also chuck in some white vinegar top up with water, heat up and then leave for a bit - does the job as well as a commercial descaler.
I got rid of the descaler jug as it just seemed unhygienic.... in my weird mind anyway.

Thanks - I too don't like the look or thought of our jug at the moment! We're only using it because we're big tea drinkers and the water is really scummy (literally!)

Luckily we don't have this problem, don't have hard water. Must be a nightmare for those in hard water areas.
