Replacement cable for DVD Player

I bought my grand-daughter an Accoustic Solutions portable DVD player on E-Bay and much to my disgust, one of the cables from the player to the second screen is duff. The seller just doesn't want to know as he claims "it worked when I had it" (He also didn't send the power cord so I'm raising a dispute with E-Bay - but that won't sort the problem)

The cable is about4mm thick with a mini-Din size plug - about the same size as a PS/2 mouse / keyboard / SVHS plug, but it has 9 pins arranged in rows of 2, 4 and 3 respectively. One plug at each end.

I've tried to get into the Accoustic Solutions website, but it goes nowehere.

I've trawled sites such as Maplins, RS Compents, PC World etc - even been into Argos where they sell the sets new but they can't help either.

Please can someone play Santa and give my grand-daughter a Happy Xmas - all I need is an idea of where to try!

Thanks

Is it like this?

Which seems to be a specialist part for certain ATI graphics cards? Can't say I've ever heard of a 9 pin s-video/din type cable?

I suspect it carries audio and video and maybe even volts to power the screen. In which case it may well be wired in a very specific way.

Might help to know the model number of the player, that might narrow down a replacement lead.

That's it exactly, only it has the 9 pin on each end rather than just on 1 and RGB at the other end.

But many thanks for the link - I'll use it to chase up my efforts.

Merry Xmas

Grumpy (or getting less grumpy now thanks to you!)
