Wrong I'm afraid - and this has been stated by at least two of the judges before, they are there to judge the dance and the technical aspects of it.

Actually I haven't really disagreed with the rankings this year. I just disagree with the dance-off.

Yes, their keeping couples that have little public support is really annoying (and they have been doing it since the DO was introduced). No wonder SCD viewing figures are now below X Factor's, while it was the opposite earlier in the season.

Well I must admit I let myself get sucked into voting again this year after swearing I wouldn't, and, yes, when Austin went I did think oh what a waste of money that was, and not even with the comfort of knowing some of it went to charity this year.

Then again, no-one forced me to vote, I could and probably should have used a bit of self-control, and there are much worse things in the world to worry about.

Sorry I'm spoiling the thread.

Cas knows I think certain judges make more allowances for one celeb's weaknesses than the other couples when it comes to their marks - it is not a level playing field.

It never has been but the ridiculous number of times the same celeb has been in the dance off this year highlights this even more than normal.

its fairly simple to see what they are doing, infact I can just about give the scores BEFORE the dance takes place.

People will stop taking an interest ,if they feel they have no part in it.

Okay, they supposedly judge on who produces the better performance during the dance off.

I'm not qualified to say whether their judgment is correct since I know naff all about the ins and outs of dancing as regards heel leads and all of that.

At the end of the day, most series have ended up with the most accomplished dancer taking the title regardless of so called manipulations, favouritism etc.

Well they haven't actually - it's not a negative vote.

We don't know that the public don't like her or want her out - she may well have been people's second/third favourite for a long time. We just don't know. She's been one of my favourites for ages, never my top, but then again, I, like many others, don't vote until at least the semis.

Only a small percentage of the viewing public actually vote (particularly when multiple votes are taken into consideration).

I dont think the BBC are supporting any charity this year.

Thats not the point,...the judges have 50% of the say we have the other 50%.

The judges are voiding our vote by over marking the ones who have no public or little public support, putting out someone else to do that. Thats not the rules of the show. They should not be over marking to protect.
They get to choose in the dance off..

she has high judges score..but has been in the dance off three times......even the judges have stated she does not have public support.........thats why they are over marking her coz a proper score added to the public score would put her in the dance off with probably Rachel. As Tom and Austin were getting alot of public support. Thats why Austin HAD to be marked so low last week to get him into the dance off.

Be interesting what happens this week.......just watch the judges....

Yes, and the judges use their 50% of the vote to vote on the technical aspects of the dance.

Quote:

It is not their job to simply acquiesce to the public's opinion, they judge the dance and the choreography. Otherwise, there is no need for them to be there.

Can you point me to the rules that indicate as you suggest?

Oh, silly me, it's yet another one of those conspiracies isn't it ......

i do think there should be a rule of "three strikes and your out". If the public isnt voting for you that many times it does get a bit ridiculous.

I realise that that's your contention.

However, I know nothing about the technical requirements of these various dances but with regularity I have managed week on week to have the leader board in practically the same order as the 'professional' judges.

At the moment, notwithstanding the public vote, the final decision rests with the judges during the dance off.

If people can't accept the format of the Show and the glaring truth of where the final decision lies they'd be better off not voting and not taking things quite so seriously IMO.

But you're speculating... many people don't see huge machiavellian schemes. They just see that sometimes they agree with the judges sometimes they don't. Why are we so worked up on here?
