Noise Reduction
I've been trying to research this, but can't seem to get a definative answer.
Noise Reduction options on HD LCD TV's - generally people say they should be left off and worsen the picture. I just bought a new 1080p 42" TV and I'm very happy with it. I used to leave noise reduction on my old 32" 720p set because generally it seemed to improve SD programmes and make no difference on HD programmes. On my new TV I can, if I look hard enough, occasionally see some noise on HD programmes (ie. when something is shot at night) and noise reduction removes this noise. What exactly does noise reduction do (technically) and what are the trade-offs? Things seem slightly less sharp with it on, but I'm just after the definative answer on it. Cheers. |
