I have just bought a digihome dtr160, and am having problems with the machine missing recordings and just recording the first few minutes which I gather could be a PDC problem.
Is there any way that I can turn off PDC on my machine as you seem to be able to do with other makes of DTR.

Hi

The equivalent mechanism to analogue TV's Programme Delivery Control (PDC) is called Accurate Recording (AR) in DTT/Freeview.

You can disable AR in respect of an individual programme; edit the Stop Time on the Timers screen to disagree with the TV schedule e.g. add five minutes to the Stop Time. The recorder will then use your (edited) timings and disregard AR signals just for that programme.

To disable AR globally/permanently, I suggest you look for a setting in the menus that could be changed from "Event" (or similar) to "Time" (or similar)

I'm quickly losing track of Digihome machines, but I think this one has Series Record, in which case the ability to change from Event to Time has been removed. All you can do is set a manual timer to avoid AR, but you lose programme info.

It does depend on whether it is Series Record or not as you say. Digihome used the mode title Digihome DTR160 for both the T816 (non-Series Record) and the T825 (Series record) hardware versions. As it was bought recently it's likely to be a T825.

P.S. I'm following you from thread the thread tonight.

Whichever version OP's machine is, isn't it unusual for a Digihome to behave so badly? I'm just trying to keep up-to-date in case I have to buy a new one - I don't want to be reduced to a Humax

Certainly in my experience the T825 LP250 Wharfedale I have is not as reliable as the T816s I had. It has missed more recordings than the the T816s. However, having the Series Record capability it does do a good job of finding alternatives for repeated programmes in the event of failures that it detects. The main issue with the T825s is that they become very slow to respond to the Remote Control which makes it much less pleasant to use than the Humax. I tend to record all the TV we watch so have about 40 events scheduled at any time which makes it very slow, many more events than this and it becomes un-usable. As I may have mentioned before, I am using the Humax as my main PVR because of it's slicker operation but using the LP250 as a back-up to cover the situations when the Humax produces un-acceptable Accurate Recording results and loss of programme endings due to the way it handles conflicts. The combination of the two PVRs gives very good overall results except when the broadcaster (usually ITV) gets the data wrong.

I do wonder about accurate recording - I always turned PDC off on our Video recorder as it seems to miss more ends of programmes than I manually set the timers. I can't comment on the accurate recording feature on the newer PVRs as I have a T810 but this with a couple of mins padding before and 10 mins after has never missed a recording.
I suppose it would be too much to ask for the manufacturers to allow the user to use accurate record or not.

I think that is too much to ask. Most manufacturers are going down the route of not providing the option to remove Accurate Recording. The only one that comes to mind that gives you the option is the Humax, but in that case you lose Series Link as well.

You can do it on the Sagems, except when a programme is set as a series.

Doesn't that add up to the same thing? i.e. you can have Series Link and Accurate Recording, or you can have neither but you can't have Series Link without Accurate Recording. I suppose with the Sagem you implement the choice in a different way from the Humax?
