I think all the undeserved, Dancing With The Stars-style 10s is really taking something away from Strictly, particularly this past saturday show.

None of the dances were perfect, Tom's Foxtrot and Lisa's Waltz were the best, (judges ignored Rachel's lack of sharp head movements in her Tango, but it was still very good for what it was) but none of these deserved tens!

The moment when Jill got four 10s for her final jive was special, now 10s mean zilch.

I agree. I think the dishing out of 10's willy nilly (love that word ) has spoilt the show. I always thought that 10's were special and should be saved for absolute perfection and none of the dances this series have been to that standard. It's a shame really.

For me the presence or lack of 10's from the judges is neither here nor there in assessing whether a dance is a 'wow' dance. It's a dance that holds your absolute attention from beginning to end, where music, performance and technique (even if not perfect) come together to create an unforgettable performance that you want to watch again and again. This series has had two - Austin and Erin's jive and paso. I think they will be remembered long after anything else we have seen so far this series.

Yep agree with you. I wasn't sure whether the OP was talking about 10's or wow dances. My feeling on 10's I've already expressed as for Wow dances I would agree that Austin's Paso was the best for me.

yeah but maybe your a A&E fan?? I don't remember his jive at all and I reckon in a few weeks his paso will be a distant memory. I prefer Tom so I remember his AS, his QS and his Foxtrot. I even remember his paso for the wrong reasons

A dance can hold your attention from beginning to end even if it is not quite perfect. Rachel's Tango for instance. Last year, however: Alesha's Waltz, Matt DA's Salsa, these dances had WOW factor. The point I was making is 10s are being handed out like candy for dances that do not have WOW factor, and that is detracting from the show.

I am an A & E fan so I agree that this is a subjective assessment. However, I would suggest that the number of hits on YouTube for dances does provide some evidence of which dances most people want to watch again and again. I think you'll find rather a lot of people appear to agree with me and not you!

PS I did love Tom's f/t too, though not in a 'wow' way and I certainly remember PasoFace.

It's all a matter of opinion. It isn't fair to compare any of this year's dancers with those from previous series, or DWTS, because they are different people.

I was not overly wowed on Saturday but Rachel's tango came close for me. Also (controversial I know), Lisa's jive gave me a lot of pleasure.

Perhaps we will all be wowed next Saturday?

none of the dances have made me go WOW so far this year - two have come close Lisa & Brendan Waltz & Ton & Camilla's Foxtrot - one did make me go WTF which was Austin's Paso

Apart from Austin's Paso, which I thought was a great performance, I've yet to be wowed by any of the dances this series and I'm not an Austin fan.
I remember Matt and Alesha's Waltz from last year, it gave me goosebumps. it was beautiful to watch. I also remember their Salsa again another show stopping dance imo. Jill's dance with Darren was spectacular. Zoe & Ian's tango. There's been nothing this series that I have genuinely sat back and thought that was terrific. I know it is completely subjective and a matter of opinion but that's how I see it and dishing out 10's for performances which, imo, aren't of the same ilk demeans the show.

I am biased and maybe because he was new but I thought Brian and Heather's Salsa was a wow dance ( for me) even though it was early on as they were an unknown quantity, there was no expectations , but because of early undermarking, she lost confidence and edge. xx

Austin and Erin's paso for me is the dance of the series. It made everyone sit up and take notice. My mum has been out of the country so that was the first episode she watched and it was only at that point she really got involved.

And ok for the wrong reasons maybe but every one of John Seargant's dances I can remember! I think sometimes the memory thing is down to the familiarity of the song. And some of the dances we have seen a lot more clips of on ITT etc. (Rachel's rumba seems to come on every 5 minutes!)

There has only been one wow dance for me this series - Rachel's rumba.

And I'm not even a fan!

There's no way that will be a distant memory in a few weeks. Like it or not, that dance is going to be mentioned every time the Paso comes around in future series, in the same way that Jill and Darren's Jive, Mark and Karen's Salsa and Alesha and Matt's Cha Cha Cha are mentioned when those dances come around.

Wow dances this series for me not all for being brilliant but some for just sheer joy. Some but not all got a round of applause and cheering in my house.

Austin & Erins Paso, that dance will live forever in SCD history for me. I was on my feet cheering.

John & Kristinas Paso
John & Kristinas Samba another clapping and stomping of feet moment.

Rachel & Vincents Rumba
Rachel & Vincents Tango (I loved it)

Lisa & Brendans Vienesse waltz (mostly for the music and the dress)

dances.

Tom & Camilla Paso (the face)
Tom & Camilla Samba (the shirt)
Mark & Hayley.......well just Mark & Hayley really

I will not remember it cos I find Austin a tad uninteresting. I prefered Daren and Lillia's paso.

Rachel and Vincent's Rumba, their Viennese Waltz (underrated IMO) and Tom's foxtrot were all WOW! dances to me. I could watch them over and over like I do with Mark & Karen's salsa and AArgentine Tango, Louisa's jive, and Alesha's... well, everything.

For me, not a full-on WOW dance but the bit where she rested her head on his shoulder was magical.

There are many who loved Austin's Paso, and many who hated it, but I think that there a very few who will forget it in a hurry. It was definitely memorable, even if for some it was for all the wrong reasons.

The WOW dances for me personally..

Austin & Erin - Paso & Chachacha
Christine & Matthew- Salsa/waltz - I loved it

also i think that..
if Austin was still in it..
A&E would have done another 'Ramps' Argentine tango!!
they have the passion and power for it

any one agree??

Not always her biggest fan, although I've liked a couple of her dances, but I think Rachel's rumba was quite a wow dance and stood out as the best rumba we have ever seen on the show. I think it will be talked about and remembered in future years. Her tango also wowed me, but I get the impression I might be in the minority there.

I agree; the 10 has been seriously undermined this series.

There have been no WOW moments - everything has been extremely good, but ntohing to make you go WOW!

Last year 3 dances stood out for me (and there was loads of others extremely close)

Alesha & Matthews Cha Cha Cha
Matt & Flavia's Salsa
Alesha & Matthews Vieneese Waltz

When you consider other dances like Mark & Karen's Salsa and Jill & Darren's Jive and Zoe & Ian's Tango...

Nothing this year has really come close to those really WOW dances.

Austin's Paso was almost there; but I slightly agree with Len about the whole thing really

Austin's Paso and waltz
Tom's Foxtrot and jive
Rachel's rumba and foxtrot

All wowed me!
