10 has been greatly devalued this series

Too many undeservedly 10 points handed out this series!!!

Heck not even Jill Halfpenny , who's almost the perfect celeb dancer to date , didn't get them till the finals.

What the hell are those silly judges doing ffs???

Are these batch of celebs so bad that the judges get excited on a mere glimpse of a celeb dancing the best out of the worst group that they can't get fast enough to pull out their 10 points paddle out of their bottom drawer without even thinking?????

10 points have lost their value that next year they should have a 20 points paddle on the ready in case the judges start wetting themselves with excitement on the prospect.

With the exception of Craig the other 3 are just stupid!

Agreed!!!

The judges could do themselves (and us) some favours by setting a benchmark of 5 or 6 at the start of the series - and TELL the audience so they know. Then they have some wriggle room, and can keep the 10s for those dances that REALLY deserve it.

I'm more inclined to think that they have to hand out a 10 if they've previously marked someone with a 9 and then witness a better performance.

So, it's more a mark to arrive at the correct placing on the leaderboard rather than an indication of perfection.

..hope that makes sense.

I hope next series they review the scoring. It all started in week 1 when Len gave Tom an 8 and though Austin was better so gave a 9.

Would it not have been better to give Tom a 6 or 7 and Austin a 7 or 8?

At least Craig allows progress. Even Arlene has been betterthis year until 2 weeks ago now she has a 10 superglued to her hand like Len and Bruno.

I agree - they started off over enthusiastic and it left them nowhere to go but upwards. Ridiculous.

I actually think the 10 was completely devalued last year - they were being flung around all over the place for some of the dancers just turning up.

I think they have been far more restrained this year than last year, particularly Bruno.

I agree far too many tens.

Also if some people had done their earlier dances later on then they would have got tens.

Blimey! - that would mean that JS and Gary Rhodes would have got 0's

It does make sense but a 10 shouldn't be used like that. There is nothing wrong with giving them 6 and 7 in the first few weeks.

I think they dish out the tens so they can say this is the best year ever. Then next year even more tens will be given and they will say this is the best year ever and so on.

I think a lot less considering that Alesha had something like 19 tens by herself. I don't think we've even reached 19 tens this series yet.

The 10 is fast losing it's kudos.

The following dances were not deserving of a perfect score:

Austin's Salsa

Austin's Quickstep

Rachel's Cha Cha

Lisa's Cha Cha

Tom's Waltz

Most of those dances weren`t even worth 9s nevermind 10s!

Austin's Salsa doesn't deserve an eight (my opinion anyway), and I think he did a wicked hip action thingie. Like Bruno said, he lost some timing (which missed the ten score from him), but he did shake his booty the 'right' way.

Agreed about Austin's QS in retrospect. Only because I saw one timing issue after repeated playback (I am sick that way).

Rachel's cha-cha was VERY good, and her legworks were miles better than Alesha's cha-cha. Granted she didn't sell the dance as much as Alesha but neither do I think Alesha deserve more than one ten.

Lisa's cha-cha was good. Very good in fact but the ending was flat. So yeah, I don't think it was a ten material.

Tom's Waltz definitely didn't deserve the tens, esp. those awkward pivots. But it didn't deserve a seven either.

Yes if you compare it series 2 and the likes of Jill Halfpenny and Denise Lewis the 10's are overused, but if your comparing to last year then no they haven't been overused, it's been more difficult to get a 10 this year.

I think the difference this year is that more couples are getting 10's rather than more 10's being given out.

It makes perfect sense, but for some reason lots of people believe 10 = perfect even though it should be clear that it doesn't.

We've had these complaints about 10s for years. I would, personally, like SCD to fix the "problem" by explaining clearly to viewers that 10 does not mean perfection, or else to scale back all of the marks (and almost never give 10s). But if all the marks were scaled back, it would probably make it a less exciting show for most viewers, and perhaps be demoralising to the dancers as well.

Unfortunately, the judges are inconsistent in the way they explain their marks and sometimes talk like 10 does require perfection.

There's also nothing wrong with giving a 10 to a dance that's significantly better than one that was given a 9, which is using a 10 "like that".

Rachel is going to get more 10s then alesha for sure.
I think at the moment shes on something like 15.
Yes Alesha got 19 but 6 of them were in the final. If you miss out the last two weeks she only had 9.
So rachel has 6 or 7 more already.

I think this year and last year the 10s were a bit OTT for everyone.
I also think 40 (perfect score) has been devalued. In all honestly who here will remember Matt Di angelos waltz or RAchels foxtrot in 5 years time? Ive already forgotten them both.

I still remembered Matt's Waltz, because it was done beautifully.

I think Rachel's foxtrot will be remembered too.

Her straight 10's obviously be compared to Jill's and Ramps which is slightly unfair as latin dances are easier to wow with, I think Rachel's was as good, just a different kind of wow. But I remember as those 10's came up I thought she deserved every single one of them.

So it seems that even though everyone boos Craig's marks, they are a more honest reflection of the dance he's just seen.

Not always. He gives out less 10's but he picks and chooses why dance are marked down so isn't that consistent, also he overuses his 9. Last year Alesha got two 8's thirteen 9's and one 10 from Craig. To me that doesn't reflect Alesha's performances at all, he gave her a 9 for her VW, one of the best dances in Strictly and the same evening gave her a 9 for her paso when she messed up and forgot the end!

He may score lower but not necessarily better.

Of course, Strictly isnt exempt from the changes in Currency Values and the general effects of the Recession!!

While 4 months ago, a "10" would have been worth 10, now its only worth 6.6

If your a fan of someone you're always going to see things differently.
I preferred Toms foxtrot to Rachels and alesha waltz to Matt.
Personally when it comes to Rachel i think if anything deserved a 40 it was her rhumba and for Matt his salsa. But thats just my opinion.
