RCA Phono Sub Woofer Question
My Sony home cinema amp bit the dust recently so replaced it with another Sony. Unfortunatelly the connections are completely different on the new model.
The query I have is regards my existing sub woofer. It has the standard positive and negative audio wire output. However, the new amp required the sub woofer input to be via a single RCA phone socket. How can i convert the sub woofer positive and negative wires into one RCA phono input? ![]() Thanks |

If the amplifier sub-woofer output is via a phono socket, then it's likely it requires an active sub-woofer - if not, then just put a phono plug on the speaker wires (but it's not a very good socket for a speaker, particularly for a sub-woofer).
What model is the new amp?, I can look it up for up. |

Thanks for help. The new box is the Sony STRDG520.
Having spent a fair while trawling google for similar posts I found one from an American site that seems to indicate that my old sub woofer is only passive and will not work with my new STRDG520...doh!! It seems I'm gonna need an active sub woofer. |
