For those of you saying Alex is...
1. A Leona, Beyonce, Whitney wannabe
2. Wouldn't last in the market and is boring Alex is not and I repeat Not and will never be a Leona wannabe. Unlike Leona, Alex can be marketed in a variety of ways and doesn't have to be the ballad diva Leona is and Whitney was. If Janet Jackson, Briteny Spears, Rihanna which Alex will blow them away vocally and survive in the market then why can't Alex? On the other hand, Alex is very flexible and can be marketed in a variety of ways 1. The dance diva as Briteny Spears, Janet Jackson, Aaliyahs and Ciara as they concentrate on Dance rather than vocal. The only difference is Alex will have a good voice to match her dance 2. Tony, Whitney, Mariah, Beyonce type Diva: As I keep on saying Alex can be the Whitney that complements Leona as the Mariah. Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Toni Braxton were successful despite the domination of Whitney and Mariah in the late 90s and early 2000s 3. Disco diva 4. Rock chick Alex can blend into any of these roles well so people saying she won't last in the music market is having a laugh Peace (and please don't forget to vote for Alex in the final) |

Some might say that said flexibility is the problem - her lack of a distinctive personality is exposed.
I'd say she's far better off being a member of a pop band than trying to be an artist in her own right. She reminds me too much of the really good singer from Steps (Claire, I think it was) in that sense. |

I think she is doomed in the X factor to be this years Rhydian, however in the long term that may not be a bad thing. |

thanks for making my point that shes entering a very saturated market. You listed Leona (kinda), Mariah, Whitney, Rhianna, Ciara, Beyonce (you missed the queen), add in Alisha Dixon and Jordin Sparks too. There quite a few more to come from the US too. Shes got a hell of a job to get past that lot and I don't think shes quite got it.

I can't believe people still say Alex doesn't have a personality. She comes across as funny, charismatic, nice and everyone always says what a nice person off set she is too. I don't get it. But hey I don't need to be convinced otherwise, as I've loved her since the beginning! Hope she wins, but even if not she has a good future ahead of her!

Alex = great singer with star potential. Steps Claire = crap singer from non-band. I can't think of a worse comparison and I hope you are never asked to help market aspiring artists.

DISTINCT personality, not lack of a personality. She lacks a unique selling point. There's nothing particularly to hook onto that makes her memorable. Between the right songs and management potentially creating a USP for her she's got plenty of chance to be successful. Ultimately it's the songs that count though. |

so your idea of a good artist is one who can be molded into whichever copycat style the record company wants ?
![]() alex has quite a good voice but i suspect it will be wasted on that throwaway britney/rihanna guff you mentioned ![]() IF you're suggesting being a good artist means that you never have to compromise with what your record company wants at the start of your career, then I'd say you're very, very wrong. Perhaps you need to read some music history, if that is what you think. |

People keep comparing Alex and Leona but they are missing it because where Leona an just belt ballads and a little bit of R n B, Alex can sing any genre, she actually has a personality- not a Leona hater, but she's dull as a person isn't she?! She can also dance, I know it's not essential but it doesn't half help! So, I think Alex is better than Leona!

In my opinion, I don't think Alex should win.
Her voice is amazing, don't get me wrong, but her place in the market has already been filled by Leona. I personally am gutted Diana went, she is the only one with any individual style.. i just thought see was really cool : ) With Diana gone, I will be supporting the little Egg : ) Alex will do well without this competition. And to be honest I am not worried about her future. I just reallllly hope its an Eoghan and JLS final!! And I don't care if I am the only one on this forum who believes that, Alex is a Leona clone. Fact. : ) (But she is amazing) GO EOGHAN ![]()

She really suited singing the Rhianna song on Saturday. I would like to hear her sing the song I first heard her sing at the audition. The Whitney Houston song "Saving all my Love."
