That's just it, I dont think it is. I have to be honest, for the first few weeks, I did think we were seeing another Leona and that while Alex was very good, we'd seen it all before. Therefore we needed someone different. However as the weeks progressed, the more I saw Alex move away from the Leona alike comparison. It's quite clear now, to me, that they both have different styles and appeal to different markets.
I find Alex a cross between Beyonca and Rihanna. A tiny bit of Whitney too. I find Alex a diva and a right old belter. She's got a great voice, true but she's also one hell of a performer, who can really work that stage. Those uptempo songs she's done proves that. Where as Leona is a balled singer. Not that it's a criticism but that's more her style. She can hit those high notes and she has the most spellbounding voice. She has capatalised that with her song choices. Good for her. It works. "Run" in particular is beautiful. However I dont see Alex in the Leona zone. The only thing imo that they both have in common is thier potential to hit the high notes. However, I can imagine a string of uptempo dance/r'n'b/pop songs on Alex's album if she were to release one but Leona's more power ballads. I can see Alex's songs being played in clubs but not Leona's.
