Don't think Eoghan will be too happy about that Simon.

At least he's being honest.

He might be mentoring 16-year-old Eoghan Quigg but Simon Cowell has revealed that he will be rooting for one of his rivals in the X Factor final this week – Alexandra Burke.

‘I'm rooting for Alex,’ he told MailOnline.

He clearly doesn't want her to win.

I did not get that impression of 'not wanting her to win', judging by his praises from the semi-final night.

He's been bigging her up lately, and quite rightly so.

When it comes down to it, Simon wants the person who can make him the most money to win - to hell with who he is mentoring.

Right now, that's Alex.

I agree quite rightly so but I don't think he wants her to win.

He will sign her regardless.

He must be savvy enough to realise that too much praise for Alex could lead to people voting against her just to spite him. It certainly didn't help Rhydian last year ...

Ah, but would you say that when the judges say Eoghan gave a good performance that they're lying? Seems to me people pick and choose what is meant and what isn't meant based on what they personally want. I agree with what you say, but I wonder if you actually do take them at face value or whether this is because it's pro-Alex this time?

Exactly.

He probably would take Alex to the states to meet the person behind Leona's success and all.

I can't imagine him introducing Eoghan to the big names in the industry.

It didn't work against Leona though, or Shayne or Steve. Last year was an unfortunate anomoly.

Unfortunately I think this year the boy with the Aaaaawwwhhh Factor will win again.

it's hard totell what's real and what's not but I genuinely think Simon has been won over my Alex's consistent performances throughout this year. He's went out of his way to praise not only her performances but also her charcter in recent weeks. Everyone associated with the show has been on record stating how amazing she is.

In the beginning I think he saw her as just another big singer and doubted there was a market for her. She has shown more versatility then any singer who has ever appeared on the show and he recognises that is something special. Normally he just endorses someone that he thinks he can make a fast buck off but Alex more than anyone in the past has reall earned her praise.

I posted about this yesterday there is no way Simon wants Eg to win he said on Saturday he thought JLS and Alex were fantastic plus there is problems with Eg because of restrictions due to his age. I think he might sabbotage Eg this week by bad songs and staging, I hope so anyway.

She's had all the "Winners Praise" already. Particularly top 5 week.

Meanwhile, Eoghan is getting increasingly mediocre comments.

Me, too. I mean I can see JLS and Alex having long lasting careers. I cannot see Eoghan having a career past 20.

You're right- he has only stood up for three of her performances and has said he wants her to win

Maybe Clive wants to sign Alex, Win Or Lose but it would be better if she won, like Leona!
