It certainly needs an extended break I think, and then change might come as a result of that if e.g. judges have other projects on.
The 'Ask Len' bits on ITT are pretty embarrassing I agree. I would actually be interested in the 'master class' session if they just played it straight. It should be much, much, longer and it should feature a couple of dancers (possibly a couple of the pros if they are on hand) illustrating the features of the dances rather than Len 'teaching' Claudia (whose hair looks nicer but otherwise has been disappointing this series). Why does everything have to be so dumbed down? I think three shows a week of ITT would be plenty.

Well I for one hope it doesn't go on a break. I enjoy watching it each week. When I look at the dross that ITV churn out in this timeslot, I'm even more happy that there is SCD to switch over to.

Actually I quite liked Cherie, but when she was voted off I didn't feel the need to post vitriolic bitter nonsense like quite a few of the odd balls on here.

Claudia was great on the John Sargent ITT special a few weeks ago. She managed to get the balance right and asked questions that were intelligent and mature whilst still retaining some of the show's fun-loving feel. Sadly, though, after that episode, she's reverted back to being nice but slightly dim, which is as a shame.
The change I was referring to wasn't an extended break, but rather a shake up of the pros, judges and presenters. I don't really think Tess adds anything special or unique to the show, Bruce's jokes get worse every week and I'd get another ballroom expert on the judging panel and even up the table. Some of the pro's choregraphy is getting a bit samey as well and, as Brian and Kristina have shown, new pros who are great dancers and who have a lovely personality, are welcomed with open arms.

And if you do not have a favourite, but like to see good dancing properly marked, what then? And if you, and people you speak to, including some with lots of dancing experience, detect certain trends in the judges' voting, what then? And if the judges over-rate their own favourites as you say the public voters do, what then?
All are human of course, but from the first series I have had the impression that Len favoured some dancers over others. In this series, he has openly said that he would ignore the mistakes of one dancer in his marking. I think it may be time to pick another panel of judges. If Karen and Erin will no longer dance, could they be tempted back as judges, which would probably be less time-consuming? Former dancers on the show might well be less inclined tgo play favourites. What about some past winning celebrities? Darren Gough has just retired from cricket, so may be available. (I can't wait for all the mean-spirited comments from those who hate the fact that he won, I enjoy a good laugh!).

Daughter of tabloid editor Eve Pollard known to be fearless in saying whatever she thought, Claudia appears to be under instructions to promote SCD as sweetness and light, fullstop -- SCD has no problems, alright? Tess gets more desperate by the week looking in vain for ways to to transmute apathy into frenzy in the back room. The 4 judges appear to conspire in advance, uncorking TENS to deflect anger and disappointment after nationwide uproar.
Reminds me of a TV audience where just out of camera shot a lackey would hold up on cue a placard "APPLAUSE".
I love "Strictly", but do feel something has been missing this year.
It might be the closest ending ever, but somehow it's also the least exciting one too - the celebs don't have enough personality to really grab my interest.
Plus there's the same thing with the judges' scoring as last year - it's like buses (i.e. you don't see a '10' for weeks and then they all come along at once). Doesn't ring true. And as for Len's atrocious manners!
Oh, and I never thought Tess was much cop, she's a talent and charisma-free zone and she wears horrible clothes.

thats the crux of the problem- in a nutshell...
last year Alesha was a clear front runner from the very beginning. The judges favoured her- it was clear to see....
But not only was she a proficent dancer she was also charming, engaging, entertaining and POPULAR WITH THE PUBLIC. So no one resented her being given plaudits by the judges cos it was justified on many counts...
This year, uninteresting contestants, who may be proficent at dancing but have no underlining mass public support, or indeed produced many WOW dances are being manipulated into the finals that the judges/producers ALONE want... thats the problem...
Methinks viewing figures will reflect this....
I think the judge's decision in the dance off devalues the public vote towards the end of the series.
I would prefer there to be no dance off when there are, say, 5 couples left.

Agreed, there were protests over Alesha's 10's.
But SCD5 saw Kelly whom many found to be charismatic, Alesha the consistent and all-time SCD topscorer, Letitia the 40yo who turned pain into triumph, Penny the warm and beautiful woman, Gabby the Cartwheel-and-Splits mother, Kenny the tartan flagwaver, Kate the injured sparrow, not forgetting Matt D the storming 20yo and Gethin the hero of the late surge. No poster that I recall ever accused SCD5 of being colourless, and peopled by identikit gurners and posers out for TV exposure.
If there was one complaint during SCD5 it was that Alesha went to the front so far out that following the tragic withdrawal of Kelly it looked a walkover. Then came the romantic surge of Gethin.....

It's to do with perception of fairness - I was sorry to see Cherie go when JS deserved to and Jodie when Christine deserved to but I knew they would would have lasted a week or two longer which tempered my disapointment a bit (although I have to admit that seeing Christine go when however nice she is which is I'll admit much nicer than I was willing to acknowledge at the time allayed the fear she'd win in spite of not being good enough). This time it's felt very unfair as some people were over-marked and if Tom goes then we'll have a final between two unpopular ladies - one of which is dancing with a pro who's attitude has irritated me all series. At least with Cherie and Jodie they lost out to other people who were geuninely liked by others and it didn't feel like your vote was a waste of time - last Saturday it did.

Well said and also highlights the yawning chasm between what the public are looking for in a dance & what the judges see. What strikes me about most of the remaining contestants is a huge lack of joy in the dances coupled with an aggressive and almost desperate competitiveness.
