All 3 will likely be signed - does winning mean less?

After last year with all 3 finalists being signed by Simon and releasing records within weeks of each other, does winning have less impact than it used to?

I imagine all 3 finalists this year will also be signed, and we've seen that although Leon won, Rhydian has been the most successful of last year's pack when it comes to debut albums.

No, I would say winning means more if the top 3 get deals.

You need the prestige of the win to give you that x-tra something.

I think winning is just as important. However winning has no bearing on whether or not you will have a successful career after the show.

Of course winning isn't everything. Look at G4, they were runners up and had 3 platinum selling albums. Also Brenda in XF2 is in the West End has fast selling concerts, makes television appearences all the time etc.

BUT

It's still nice to say we've actually voted somebody sucessful, i.e Leona Lewis. I reckon Diana, Rachel, Ruth and Laura will all have record contracts regardless of what position they came because they are well known now.

I think Simon will see Eoghan as a lucrative Mother's Day album seller.

That's such a ridiculous thing to say. He's not popular on this board, but he's a finalist that has never been in the bottom two and that lots of people like.

That's because you're arrogant enough to think that talent is based in who you liked best, as if your opinion is superior. It's always been a stupid response, and yet people stick to it, enamoured as they are with their own opinions.

Technicality does not the best act make. Never has, never will.

who i liked? No,im going based on talent.

i couldnt stand laura untill she sang at judges houses because she sang beautifully.

I didnt want Ruth to make the live shows, again her TALENT won me over, her voice is immense.

wheres the arrogance?

I didnt say anything about my opinion being 'superior',im going on basic common sense,Eoghan is not talented. He would sell less than Ray quinn - thats saying something

I usually tend to agree (I loathe Ray Quinn but he was popular for some strange reason) but I have to pull you up on this one. The only reason Eoghan is getting votes is being he is young and Irish. If he wasn't Irish he would be Scott and if he wasn't young he would be Daniel.

Which is a subjective term at best, so as ridiculous an argument as ever. 'I know talent better than you' blah. Old.

im going on basic common sense
Aka your opinion - an opinion that you've decided is an issue of 'sense'. :shake:
The only reason Eoghan is getting votes is being he is young and Irish. If he wasn't Irish he would be Scott and if he wasn't young he would be Daniel.
That's just conjecture. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't - personally I love his tone and he won me over with Anytime You Need A Friend, being young and Irish wins you nothing with me.

Also, having youth and nationality as a selling point does not automatically make someone inferior.

Connection with an audience can be helped by all sorts of things and none of them are invalid - what makes someone connect with a sentiment or vibe is something that's personal and that can't be measured - can be anything from facial expressions to body language to age to appearance.

Would Alex or JLS be as popular if they were old or ugly? Almost certainly not.

Aka your opinion.

That's entirely based on conjecture. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't - personally I love his tone and he won me over with Anytime You Need A Friend.

Also, having youth and nationality as a selling point does not automatically make someone inferior. Would Alex or JLS be as popular if they were old or ugly? Probably not.

If Alexandra was older - Many people would still like her
JLS-Im not a big fan of them anyway despite their looks, but they have good bond and nice voices which compliment eachother

Taste is measured upon how an artist connects with the few people they do,how it makes them feel etc..

Talent is based on..well,talent...which Eoghan lacks.
Any time you need a friend was probably his best performance, but the rest are abysmall,i cant even remember half of them...He wouldnt last half as long as Ray Quinn did..
Eoghans voice is weak, strained, theres nothing there...half the time its just the backing vocals

Im not saying my opinion is right but if you are telling me you think Eoghan will make it big, then im going to have to say,yes my opinion is right lol

Perhaps, but probably not as many - youth is a selling point.

Exactly. You start with an objective sentence, but then follow it with one that is purely your opinion. The fact that I and apparently a lot of other people do connect with him doesn't matter to you, because you're only interested in your take on him.

That's actually the best critique of his voice I've seen - tuning has never been his downfall at all despite what people harp on about, his weaknesses come in strength, breathing (which leads to straining) and range.

He's not the best technical singer in the competition, but then you don't need power in a voice or massively impressive vocal tricks to connect with people, and quite often people will take the imperfect over the perfect. Ever since he sorted out his breathing I've really liked what he's done and that preference is not inferior or superior to yours - it's just a preference.

Still, if people had been saying that about him rather than the ridiculous ones such as 'he can't sing' or 'has no voice', I wouldn't have had to stick up for him as often ... it's not even like he was my favourite.
Im not saying my opinion is right but if you are telling me you think Eoghan will make it big, then im going to have to say,yes my opinion is right lol
Well, you don't know that, but the chances are that he won't. Getting a record deal so young means he'll automatically be packaged to a younger market which usually limits the success timespan and that transition to being an older singer is historically a hard one to bridge.

But that doesn't mean he wouldn't deserve the chance though.

If same difference struggle even though they can sing, dance and perform on a whole without the need of backing vocals,Eoghan stands no chance.

I dont particularly like big voices myself, but i dont take to voices that dont have their own distinctiveness either.Eoghan, doesnt have a big range, his voice is very monotone and bland, his performances only liven up when backing vocals take over. The only weakish voice i think worked was David Archulettas from american idol.i didnt partiularly like him but His was distinctive, smooth,he struggled with high notes too,but it didnt matter because the rest of his performances were good.Eoghan is very average.I dont think he would make it as a singer nor in the theatre.
He would be a bad bad winner, even Simon knows that.i just think Mali or liam would have done a better job

Talent is subjective. You can say he hasn't, I can say he has and we can all go around in a big meaningless circle.
his voice is very monotone
That doesn't make sense in the slightest ...
... bland, his performances only liven up when backing vocals take over.
Subjective, again.
the rest of his performances were good.Eoghan is very average.
Ditto.

You keep making these grand statements about how things are and they're entirely pointless, because they are not a matter of how things are, they are how things are to you. Liam or Mali may have done a better job for you, but as things stand Eoghan has a shot at winning, which is as good a job as someone can do on this show.

i mentioned David Archuletta because his voice wasnt the strongest but he had something to work with,he could improve.

we have seen as much of Eoghan as we can, theres nothing left.Even his best failed to impress most people.

he wouldnt last in this country, let alone europe or america

Monotone means no change in pitch, that's just silly. A line like 'Any Time You Need A Friend' alone goes E F D.

It failed to impress most people who post on this board, beyond that, your statement is complete conjecture and vaguely ridiculous given that he's in the final having never been in the bottom two.
