Problem With Phone 17mnths Into 18mnth Contract!

I have a samsung U600 on vodafone. Contract up in 9 days and i am planning to move to 02. However it is suddenly not working very well. No sounds/ring tones work when completely closed or open. I can only hear the other person if I hold it half closed. The only sound I get is from the vibration. Could I still get it repaired or replaced by Vodafone even though I am nearly at the end of the contract?

It won't be worth it, just move over to O2, save on the hassle

I would just cancel the contract to go and get the PAC code if you want to transfer you number to O2.

Well i think normally you have 12 Months warranty so unless Samsung have 18 Month warranty your out of luck but there's no harm in trying. Call up Vodafone and give it a shot.

Some companies like Nokia have a 2 year warranty .

Is it worth the hassle , give notice your in the 17th month and move to 02

Unless you absolutely must move to O2, you may find Vodafone offering you a very good retention deal. Including a free handset better than what you might have to pay O2 for.

i was due upgrade my handset on vodafone yesterday.

phoned them up and told them i would like a free c905 on a 12 month contract but keep my £35 price plan

which i get 750mins a month and 100txt.

they said there was no chance i could have it for free they wanted £90 for the phone.

so i called back this morning and asked for a pac code and the guy asked me why i wanted to leave.told him i have seen a deal on the web from dial a phone.

and he gave me the c905 for free 12 month contract
at £35 but increased my txt to 250 + keeping my 750 mins.

he had to speek to a manger to get the deal but only took a few mins

not a bad deal and i will keep my w960i and stick the c905 on e-bay soon has it comes and make a good few quid

It may depend where you live ?

The VF signal is good @ the coast but VM CS is pants

I have had no problems with O2. It offers the best coverage in the rural area I live. I was also at a conference a couple of weeks underground. I was getting 3-5 bars of 3G with my iPhone, my friend with a Blackberry Bold on Vodafone was jumping between 1 bar of GPRS and No Service. Furthermore, the small town I work has consistently good coverage across the whole town. Inside my work it is not that great, Orange is the best, but that is because the Orange mast is right next to the building. Go anywhere else in town though and Orange is very poor, all other networks are poor and O2 is the only one that is good.

Other networks may have slightly better 3G coverage, but overall I think O2 is easily on par with Vodafone. Although, Orange and T-Mobile will always be at a slight disadvantage being on the 1800MHz spectrum rather than the 900MHz that O2 and Vodafone are on (the longer wavelengths i.e. 900MHz cover a larger area and penetrate building more easily).

I'd get it repaired as you are still paying for the contract and then you will have no rush to move (I recon there will be better deals in the new year).

You can then sell the phone on Ebay once you move to another contract and get £50+ for it.
