Hi

Just wondered if someone has a similar setup to the above. With all this new technology now available it makes it more difficult to find out if something is working properly or if someone is faulty.

The LG5010 spec says that it can display a 24p image using HDMI. I assume on this tv it is all automatic as I can find no settings or onscreen info to determine properly what it is doing. I have then set the Sony player to output as 24p but when viewing the image it shows noticeable image judder on the panning shots etc. I would have thought a player and tv that are 24p compatible would display a smooth image, but I have no idea if this TV is up to the job or the player is faulty. I have then turned off the 24p option on the player and the image on the TV is as smooth as I would except and which seems to be outputting at 1080/60. The 60 I assume would be 30fps, not sure whether this should actually be 1080/50 but have little idea what is determining this output with the 24p option off. The only option I have seen I think is under guidance code? which seems set to the USA system of ratings, so not sure if this makes it seem like a NTSC output or not. I would also think that if a higher frame rate (30fps) is put through the cable then the cable would not be at fault?

So really I need to determine if all this setup is ok and what I should expect or if something is possibly at fault.

Thanks for any advice

I'm assuming the source material you used was a Blu-ray disk?

I would suspect the TV, there are many sets which cant handle 24Hz correctly despite the spec. saying it can

Yes the source is BluRay, I am kind of swaying towards the tv myself as it has been making a few strange noises recently. Although I was hoping someone had a similar model (LG5000, 5010, 5020) and then I could determine if the actual TV cannot do 24p properly. Gone are the days of just having to worry about adjusting brightness, colour, contrast and volume on tvs, its seems that as technology supposedly wants to make our lives easier it just gets more complicated or generally seems to go one step back.

Anyhow if anyone can confirm what this tv is capable of, or can suggest other ways to isolate what may be at fault I would be very grateful.
