Hello,

I was looking for something like the Quintro, which sadly seems to have been discontinued. Do the manufacturers think we have all upgraded to hdmi? I think there's a lot of late adopters who are still using scart, like me.

Anyway, I understand they automatically switch to the last device powered on. Which scart pin do they use to detect the power on/off of a device? I assume this only works with fully wired scart plugs and would not work if you used an s-video to scart adapator and fed an s-video input (from my amp)?

Thanks.

Pin 8 on the SCART is the normal control signal. The VCR, DVD or STB sets a voltage on this pin to signal it has woken up.

As you correctly say this signal is not available if you convert SCART to S-Video or vice versa as pin 8 of the SCART end won't be wired to anything.
