2 Optical TOSLink Cables Into One Input

I've been meaning to sort this for ages, but the recently purchased solution - a TOS Splitter - doesn't seem to work.

I have a Sony 715 DVD player- one of the first 2 players from Sony- and a Sky+ box. I want to connect them both to a cinema system which has only one TOS input and assumed a Splitter would work- which it half does. The Sky box is fine, but the DVD player just crackles regardless of which connection in the splittes i put it in- but works fine when plugged directly to the cinema system.

Can someone recommend a solution- other than swapping and changing cables!

You need a Toslink switch not a splitter - link
