Voting - to those who don't
Lorelei Lee
11-12-2008
Given the debates over the 'unfairness' of the dance-off system and the influence it gives the judges, I'd like to ask - how many of you who don't vote regularly would vote if this system didn't exist? Or is there another reason you don't vote?

Personally I'd only vote if I felt I could help avert a serious miscarriage of justice. As the judges' vote pretty much avoids popularity triumphing over talent, I've never felt the need thus far on SCD - though I admit voting several times for David Sneddon in Fame Academy

I don't vote any more when it comes to RTV...period.

There are many reasons why - which I won't bore you with - but I cannot envisage any circumstances in which I would change my mind.

In any event, the 'right' people tend to do well in Strictly so, whilst I may disagree with the odd decision, I'm broadly satisfied with how things turn out on the whole.

I used to vote when some of the money wenb to Children in Need. Now the whole thing seems to be about "favourites" and "celebs" and "careers" with nothing of value coming out of it - I really don't find that attractive to be involved in.
Probably won't even watch next year as i detest all things celebrity.

I dont vote now, the Judges just void the public vote with over marking....so whats the point.

I don't vote because I have better things to waste my money on. I enjoy SCD for the spectacle, and will usually have one or two favourites that I quietly support, but if they get knocked out, then does it really matter? Of course not, it's a TV show. That's why I have such a hard time understanding the hysterical levels of bitching, simpering and general displays of wild fanaticism that I see on here and elsewhere.

I read a post on this board from someone who didn't see a particular favourite celeb's performance the first time round, because he/she was crying so hard from nerves and pent-up excitement. I've also read blatant and overtly racist comments about overseas pros. If that's what having a vote does to you, then I want no part of it. Of course it could be that these posters would react like that anyway, I've no idea.

It would be nice if some of the money from the votes went to charity. However the phone calls are not all that expensive (unless you keep pressing the redial).

I vote sometimes when I feel that a couple has done particularly well. I may vote on Saturday if I think that one is way ahead of the other two. If they all seem on much the same level I won't bother. I will not be complaining about the result of the dance off (though will obviously feel sad for the couple who leave).

I have had to restrict my voting activities for the last 2 years due to total penury, but I WILL be voting in the Final, and I HOPE I'll be voting for Lisa in spite of the fact that Bendan is a total tit!!!

Not a fan at the beginning, but Flavia and Phil, Jodie and Ian and Austen and Erin are no longer available choices. (sigh......) and I've grown to rather like and admire Lisa over the weeks.

ps. "like and admire" is code for "lust over"

I just cant take to Lisa or Rachel.......at all. Fine them cold and flat. Rachel disconnected from the dance, more like dancing by numbers.

Lisa, if she sheds any more tears Ill scream.........

Tom has the public behind him.......so the judges will have to mark him low to get him in the dance off to vote him off

just watch.....

I no longer vote for two reasons :

1. The dance-off makes it pointless

2. There's nobody worth voting for

The only time I have voted in Strictly is for John 2 or 3 weeks running. I'd only vote again if there were a couple as brilliant as him and Kristina again. I wanted to watch them each week, knew that if they were in the dance off they'd be out, and that's why I voted.
