Judges, your say!!

Me and other half were talking about the whole Austin thing (he is choked he has gone and we both said we think there needs to be a change.

I think another female judge should come in. I would like to see Erin or Karen come on board as the 4th judge or replace Bruno. I dont dislike Bruno just dont see what he brings to the judging.

I would like to see a strictly professional on the panel as they know the technicality of the dances yet understand the entertaining aspect and having competed have a greater understanding.

I think both Erin and Karen would bring a respected opinion to the judging bit like Craig.

But would they be biased???

For example would Erin praise Camilla more then Brendan???

No I think they would be honest

Frankly, if Karen Hardy became a judge then there'd just be even more negative stuff about her on this forum than there is already.

I'm all in favour of bringing in somebody different to see how they get on, but I'd rather it wasn't someone who has danced on SCD. I just don't want there to be any more accusations of favouritism, politicking etc.

I think the way it is judged should be different. It seems they all look for different things - perhaps if they had to judge it from the same point of view it may give more consistent scores. Arlene goes on about posture, Len about the content, Craig about the choreography. Perhaps they should have rules about how they should score!

If anyone goes let it be Len - his posturing this year has gone beyond laughable to cringeworthy.

Craig should critique constructively, without falling into the temptation of heaping humiliation on contestants in pursuit of being clever.

Arlene should lower the tone of her voice - her shrieking must surely break the barrier of acceptable noise levels. She should also stop slobbering over every piece of male totty on the show - it is most unsavoury in a woman of her age.

Bruno has toned down this year - if he could just avoid overmarking, he could become my favourite judge.

I think it has been mentioned on this forum before but I like the idea of 2 scores. 1 for technique & 1 for performance.

The only trouble is that I don't know if Craig, Arlene & Bruno are able to judge ballroom technique well enough to make it viable.

The show's a great success. The judges do a pretty good job of steering the best dancers to the latter stages. Tiresome pantomime antics notwithstanding, I see no reason for an axe to fall.

The best reason for an extra judge is one that I put forward years ago...the top and bottom mark could then be ignored whilst still giving the panel a decent range of marks with which to differentiate the couples. The argument against that is they're judging different things anyway. However I like the idea as a measure of control over the occasional excesses (or not so occasional in Len's case). So much better if this happened in conjunction with the introduction of separate 'technique' and 'performance' marks.

That's exactly what I was thinking when considering this. Maybe keep Craig, Arlene and Bruno to judge primarily on performance (technique may come into this a little as bad technique detracts from performance) and have Len plus two to vote on technique.

I agree. It would make the show more interesting and encourage more adventurous choreography.
It would also give us lots more to argue about.

I think Len has to stay but another pro come in who knows whats right and wrong.

Len should go.....reading these forums he is clearly not as popular as the beeb think.

....and there should be NO head judge vote if its two two then go to public vote.
