N96 driving me mad!

I just swapped my N95 for an N96 as a friend of mine preferred the N95. I think I now see why.

Can someone tell me if my phone is faulty or if it is just that the N96 is rubbish!

If I goto use any application that requires an internet connection whether that be via HSPDA or WIFI it says connecting for absolutely ages. Sometimes up to five minutes. Then I get the choices of connection and if I choose wifi it then moves on to the next stage of scanning and this takes ages too. Once you select the wifi you want to connect to it's back to connecting and this can go on for ages and sometimes it just does it forever. It really is bad and I am very disapointed if this is normal. It does not matter what I run whether it be BBCi player or Web access, it just will not work.

If I use the wifi scanning option on the home screen it virtually crashes the phone and on occasions I get the White screen of doom and the phone resets.

So after all that, is it just that N96's are rubbish or do you think mine has a fault? If there is a known miracle cure, I'd love to hear it.

I am very disapointed with Three. They are useless. I phoned them about a fault with the phone and they suggested that I take it to my nearest care point whch happened to be a Carphone Warehouse store in Reading.

The Tech in the reading store said that as the phone is less than 28 days old, I should get a refund. He pointed me in the direction of the Three store across the road. They basically refused to even speak to us as the phone was ordered online and not in store.

I could understand that if Three stores were franchises (which they are definately not) that they would be like this. I said I was frustrated and they said you should have bought it in store and we would have changed it there and then. Well thanks for that!!

I then immediately phoned Three and they said that online sales only have a 14 day returns policy and not 28! So if you order online or over the phone you get a MUCH reduced service from Three. I was losing my temper at this point! They eventually agreed that they would collect the phone from my work and repair it.

A word of warning to everyone. imho I do not recommend that you order over the phone or online with three as you will be treated as a second class customer with much reduced treatment from three. When my contract is up, I am going elswhere for sure.

Has anyone else had similar issues with three?

One of my colleagues signed up for a 24 month contract with them and got a PC for £35 a month but when she got home the signal everywhere in her home was crap so the product she signed up for was pointless. She took the computer back to the shop after three days and they refused to alllow her to return it despite the contract stating that it could be returned within 14 (or 28 days) She stood her ground and they eventually backed down and gave her a refund but not before accusing her of being a liar saying their checker says she should be able to get turbo. They then suggested she should get a home broaband supplier and keep the laptop!

So in IMO steer well clear. You are alright until you have a problem where they are required to act upon it.

Rant over. Feel a bit better now

how do you find that smooth keypad? That would annoy me. I have only handelled the N95 in a shop and prefer the keys.

If something goes wrong with a Nokia under warranty, download and print off the returns form from the Nokia website, send it off in a jiffy bag (Freepost). A few days later they return it to you. Its normally much quicker because you cut out the middleman.

The keypad is strangely ok. The keys although less tactile are a bit bigger so it kind of just works. once you get used to it, it's fine. That said the one thing I did notice is that sometimes you are not convinced that you pressed the button as the feedback from the clicking of it is very slight and less definate than the N95.
