Advice on different packages please
Apologies if this should have been posted elsewhere but my parents have a problem and I really don’t know much about phone bills etc.
They are currently with BT (not sure what package) but have SKY TV and the £5 broadband. They both work so are not in during the day but they might use the phone on a night to local numbers. Would it be in their best interests to go to SKY talk and get the line rental out with them? For some reason their bill was around £70 with BT last quarter but no one understands the bill, lol. Thanks in advance for any replies. |

Our bill used to be quite a bit on BT and the phone is hardly used (despite there being numbers to all over the UK appearing on it!). I rang up customer services to get the PIN for call barring changed and the CSR informed me that there was a new tarriff I could switch to that gave me the discounts I was currently getting, (which was free evening and weekend to local numbers and discounts for mobile calls and friends and family), but it also now gave me free evening and weekend calls to ALL UK and Ireland numbers, and also 100 free text messages from the house phone a month if you have a text enabled phone (which I do but don't ever use). He also said it would cost £10 a quarter less than what I was paying. Our bills were usually around the £80-£90 mark but got a nice surprise when we got ours yesterday... £45!
I sugggest you call up their customer services and either change to a new package or complain the cost of your current one is too high for the light usage they have and see what they can do for you. Mention you might switch, that usually gets them jumping to try and keep you by offering you discounts! Good luck. Paddy
