Sony KDL-32V4000 Vs Panasonic TX-32LXD85
Ok so i currently own the kdl v4000 and not happy with the blurring on motion and refresh rates. Was considering buying the Panasonic TX-32LXD85 then setting it up and deciding which to keep. Bought the sony via amazon so no probs with sending back for refund.
Which do people think has the best pic quality - best at handiling motion and with quicker refresh rates? i mostly watch freeview and play xbox 1 games / sd dvds on it? |

Was going to buy from argos, but have noticed the Panasonic TX-32LZD80 for around £68 more (including quido cashback + £5 gift cert from argos and £5 nectar voucher from amazon)
the Panasonic TX-32LZD80 is full hd - i know fairly pointless at 32 BUT seing as its only £68 more than the lxd85, is it worth just getting the Panasonic TX-32LZD80? handy if/when i ever get a ps3 with 1080p and i guess has other new-er improvements. going to pop into John lewis tomorrow to see if they have one on show hopefully with freeview, but more likely sky or bluray |

i dont think the lzd80 is 100hz is it?and even if you get a ps3 there is only a very small selection of games outputing in 1080p and whether you would you notice on this size screen is debatable

not putting you off but the lg plasma's do suffer from bad image retention, much more than the panasonics.i have seen this set and its sd pics are superb but the ir was too much for me.got a panny 37px80 and use it for games no trouble whatsoever, can highly recommend one if 37 inches isnt too big

I have the Panasonic TX-37LXD85 and have no complaints about either SD or HD material.

still have the 32v4000 - have until jan 31st to return to amazon.
John lewis have priced matched a place in essex that do it for £470 with 5yr warranty! Have to wait til first week in jan to get paid before buying. Think ill buy it, and compare it with the sony for a week then decide - JL doesnt say anywhere you can just return it if you dont like it? |

tbh, i have been getting used to it, the two things that bug me are...
1. refresh rates - i sometimes notice the delay from one shot to the other... if i think about it, i notice it! 2. blurrey on a close up of a face. ill try your settings, thanks, |

i have a v4000 and i am well pleased with it but will say the last month or so many new buyers have complained of motion bluring and smearing, this coincided with the set being heavily discounted around the place.does make me wonder if they haven't changed the panel or something for these newer sets as i say mine is superb via sky,ps3 and bluray

I too am looking at the 32v4000. I want a 32" to replace my Sony CRT. I will mainly be watching the freeview on it. My biggest worry is motion blur. I swore I wouldn't purchase a non 100hz set, but seeing as JL are doing it for £299 with a 5yr warranty, it is tempting.
I tried to look at one in our local Currys but they only have a silly graphical presentation playing on their sets which isn't much use for assesing PQ. In my view Panasonic LCDs and Plasmas give the best SD pictures and I guess the Panny 85 will be superb but is very expensive. Most people on here seem to be comparing them for gaming. Can anyone tell me what sort of picture they get with freeview, preferably with sharpness down and noise enhancers off? |

my settings for the v4000 are above and as you can see i have the "enhancers" turned off.freeview picture is ok but sky via scart is definately better.
the panasonics are good sets but for me at least,i find the picture especially sd stuff a bit soft and washy.the lack of backlight adjustment also made up my mind and factors in why their blacks aren't as good. |

I too was considering the Sony V4000, but eventually went for the Pana TX-32LZD80 after reading many reviews on the web, plus a truly excellent deal at Richer Sounds for 599 quid. However, I am a touch disappointed. I only have Freeview but the picture appears smeary and unsharp on some programmes, especially on ITV. Distant shots even look a bit pixelly. It's much the same when playing DVDs. BBC is not too bad though. I've played around with the picture settings, but still can't seem to get a picture as sharp as my old CRT. I did read that this is a problem that all LCD TVs have with Freeview, but I really wasn't expecting it to be as noticeable as it is.
