If Leona had a big personality, would she be less successful?

Its just an idea I got from the thread on Alex's personality.

Some people find Leona boring and personality-less. Others find her shy and endearing, and unaware of how good she actually is which in a way makes her better.

So if Leona knew how good she was and if she wasn't so quiet that we wouldn't expect such a huge voice, could she be less successful than she is because she never fails to wow an audience? I'm not saying she wouldn't be successful which no doubt she would, just would she be slightly less successful?

Its not described perfectly I know, but hopefully you can see what I'm getting at.

She would be successful regardless, I would have thought.

I wouldn't call her quiet when she's on the stage though!

I see what you're getting at, and it's a valid point. It's the Xfactor after all. The idea that a successful artist is somehow more than the sum of the parts.

I'm not a Leona fan but I do think she has something.

They can't win, can they?

When they are quiet, people complain about lack of personality, as in Leona's case

Bubbly = Complaints about being arrogant and over-confident in Alex's case

Thats what I mean- if you had never heard of her before and had seen her for the first time in an interview then she performed, you'd be amazed because you wouldn't expect that voice from a quiet person. Would it have the same effect if she had an extrovert personality and would it have an effect on overall success?

Leona tends to split people- some think she is boring, some find her shy, endearing and unaware of how good she is because of it.

Agree. (Well, at least in the case of women, but women are always maligned for whatever they do on reality TV shows.)

I like how modest and introverted Leona was as a person. It has no bearing at all on her quality as a performer - just as having a quiet, shy nature doesn't necessarily mean you can't be an actor (e. g. Johnny Depp).

I do think it made her seem more endearing but having a shy personality never helps on these shows. It's very rare that someone who isn't that extrovert wins based purely on their talent.

I love her personality. She's very relatable and normal but has an aura of mystique around her at the same time. She's also really funny and witty when she comes out of her shell in interviews.

I love Leona's personality. She comes across as quite shy, which I find endearing, and very humble, which I really like.

I think she's an excellent role model.

I agree. She's also great at accents:

Check out her impression of Lil' Wayne too in this vid:
