I was just thinking about the final and I can't remember them having fancy "best bits" packages for the series?

Those that watch Big Brother will be aware of the interest on the BB forums when it comes to the "best bits", because for years it has been a central part of the final. Recent years have seen them being 7-9 minutes long and they are done after the result and even for crap series, they provide a good conclusion. And there is always a big debate about the music that they use (2006 - Snow Patrol "Chasing Cars", 2007 - The Fray "How To Save A Life", 2008 - Elbow "One Day Like This")

I know XF tends to end on the winner and all the confetti, but maybe this would be good for just before the result is announced?

You're kinda meant to feel sad, I think! Because it's the end of the series. Hence the choice of music.

Has there been 7-9 minutes of 'highlights' this year?

Did they not do something last year? I know they hadn't in previous series but I swear last series was the first where they did a "best bits" package before the final result - although I think it was just of the finalists auditioning (rather than the other auditionees as well), plus them in boot camp, the judges houses and live shows - unless I dreamt that.

I know they did do one for Britain's Got Talent so we might get one for XF tomorrow night.

The one for BB7 was brilliant.

I think they could easily do it for XF this year. You've got more than just the finalists performances. Everything from Amy Conolly's audition among other teary ones, Cheryl's arrival on the panel, the "Hero" #1 Single, meeting Mariah, Take That, Britney, Beyonce, Rachel clashing with Simon at bootcamp, Danni/Louis, Diana's laryngitis, the best performances etc. Even a 4/5 minute one would do.

They did something for the end of the auditions process this year.
