Bit unfair saying no one explained what happened. Tess said as soon as the Results show came on that the line's had been frozen because the bottom couple couldn't be saved from the dance off.

Good article!

EXCEPT- I detect BBC spin already....

Brucie, Tess and the judges are absolutely furious. They can’t believe that such an idiotic mistake has been made

..... erm- its the judges fault in the first place!!

I agree and any of the information could have been cribbed from here hours ago.

"The News of the World" can reveal...nothing.

It's not even mentioned on the front page of the actual paper as they had everything set up for the X-Factor result!

`The Strictly judges quickly realised the error and were involved in a huge bust-up behind the scenes as producers were alerted to the fiasco.`

Ohhh fight !!

Oh there`s a poll going on their website too.

Rubbish, and talk about stealing ideas from the forums (as the last paragraph clearly shows they read this forum). They tip the BBC? Will BBC even care about NOTW?

The problem is not the voting system as such but a semi-final consisting of three couples, not four. John Sergeant's decision to quit SCD left a hole where the fourth semi-finalist spot should have been. Tom Chambers would have competed the dance off with another couple, assuming the other couple didn't tie in first place with Lisa and Rachel! LOL

Er... I think that makes sense. My head hurts thinking about it.

Was the last quote from here or the BBC forum?

Well if there'd been 4 couples then the scoring could have gone

Rachel 4+1 = 5
Lisa 4+2 = 6
Austin 2+3 = 5
Tom 1+4 = 5

I emphasise could. But with the fourth couple there Tom would've been able to survive the dance off despite finishing bottom and there being a tie at the top. So what you say makes complete sense.

The BBC insider still reveals that they still can't think it through. Giving the girls 2 points would have just made it inevitable for Tom to go through only on the public vote despite dancing worst - its the same problem - making it impossible for him to go instead of making it impossible for him to stay. He gets 3 points from the public and one from the judges and the girls with 1 plus 2 and 2 plus 2 end in the dance off. t A vote for Rachel or Lisa would have had no point that way. Nor would the dancing.

The answer would be to find a way to break any tie (ask the judges who performed better) or to ensure that there were 4 people as intended in the SF .

Maybe the average judges score over the series could be taken into account if there's a tie? So the one who averaged highest claims the 3 points, and the other 2?

Collectively we are rather good. Lots of the Big brother stories seem to come from monitoring here - its easier than watching.........

Thats another good tie breaker - just as long as its not Len voting for the one the other 3 wouldn't vote for.

20 years ago it would have been maths standards for 6 year olds not 16 year olds.

3+2 = 5 (Lisa - probably or Rachel)
3+1 = 4 (Rachel - probably or Lisa)
1+3 = 4 (Tom)

5 is greater than 4 i.e. no way Tom could avoid the dance off even if he came top in the public vote!

I know our education system is not what it was since the days when O level included calculus - but last time I checked 1+3 was key stage 1.

Edit: whoops two people got there before me... I'm too slow at typing at this time of night.
